At least five IAF personnel were killed after an AN-32 transport aircraft met with an accident while landing at the Jorhat airbase in Assam and burst into flames on Saturday, defence officials said. Engaging IAF to speed up NEET-UG paper delivery, says NTA official

New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will use the Indian Air Force (IAF) to speed up the distribution of question papers for the June 21 National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate or NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, which is being conducted during the monsoon season which affects road connectivity in some parts of India. Engaging IAF to speed up NEET-UG paper delivery, says NTA official NTA’s aim in using IAF is to halve delivery time from the usual 8-10 days to 4-5 days officials familiar with the matter said on Monday. The officials added that the agency will have to conduct, in 38 days, an exercise that typically takes around six months preparation. The retest was announced on May 15, and the compressed timeline has required the agency to recreate the entire examination cycle — from paper setting and translation to printing and distribution — in little over a month. According to the Defence Ministry, the missile was test-fired from an airborne platform under extreme release conditions, with the trials designed to validate the performance of all critical subsystems and flight parameters. According to officials, the missile successfully established the intended trajectory after launch and accurately engaged a predefined target. Pinpoint accuracy The missile demonstrated pinpoint accuracy during the tests, successfully meeting all mission objectives. Pune Airport Director Santosh Dhoke said, “A fighter aircraft [Su-30 MKI] experienced an undercarriage failure after a hard landing around 10.25 pm, resulting in runway blockage. Pune airport resumes operations after IAF aircraft runway incident

Flight operations at Pune airport resumed on Saturday morning after the runway was cleared and declared operational following an overnight closure caused by a technical snag in an Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter aircraft, officials said. As reported by news agency PTI, a fighter aircraft experienced a technical issue in the undercarriage during landing around 10.25 pm on Friday, causing the runway to be blocked, Pune airport director Santosh Dhoke said in a press statement. Dhoke said, “As per SATCO, IAF, the aircraft became immobilised. Both pilots are safe. Due to the aircraft`s position and damage, a NOTAM was issued for temporary runway closure until 5.30 am, later extended to 9 am to facilitate safe removal, inspection, and restoration,” as per PTI.  During the late hours of Friday, flight operations at Pune Airport were temporarily suspended following an incident involving an Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft.
