According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), visibility at IGI airport stood at 350 metres at 9.30 am IST on December 30, indicating dense fog conditions over Delhi. The foggy weather also affected train services, adding to travel disruptions across the city for a second consecutive day. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will begin on Thursday traffic trials for two new tunnels connecting Dwarka Expressway to the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport and National Highway 48, officials said. The trial, scheduled between 12pm and 3pm, aims to ease congestion on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway and provide a faster route for commuters travelling between Gurugram, Dwarka, and the airport, officials said. Noida woman arrested at Delhi airport for smuggling drugs worth Rs 11 crore | Delhi News

A 20-year-old woman from Noida was arrested at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport fon Monday or allegedly smuggling drugs worth over Rs 11 crore. According to officials, the woman arrived from Bangkok on February 21 and was intercepted by officers of the Customs Department during routine checks. Upon examination of her luggage, authorities discovered eight packets of cookies and rice containing a green-coloured narcotic substance. The material, suspected to be ganja or marijuana, had a net weight of 11.28 kg. “A diagnostic test conducted on the seized material prima facie confirmed it to be ganja or marijuana. The estimated illicit market value of the seized substance is approximately Rs 11.28 crore,” the Customs Department stated. Following the seizure, the woman was taken into custody, and the narcotics were confiscated. Further investigation into the case is underway to determine the source and intended destination of the smuggled drugs, said officials.
