Increase in startup incubators; South India leads the pack, tier 1 cities housing half: IIT-Madras, IIM-Bangalore report | Education News

The number of incubators in the Indian ecosystem has grown steadily, with more than 1,100 active incubators dotting the Indian startup ecosystem, reveals a report jointly presented by the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M), Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore‘s NSRCEL, startup incubator of the management institute. The Southern region leads the pack, housing 45 per cent of all incubators and having the highest density of incubators. The report titled, ‘India Incubator Kaleidoscope 2024’ shows that tier 1 cities house almost half of all incubators that is 48 per cent. Chennai has a high proportion of academic incubators at 82 per cent, whereas Bengaluru and Gurugram have a high proportion of industry incubators at 71 per cent and 84 per cent, respectively. The incubator density is 0.8 incubators per million population according to the report, whereas countries like US, UK and China range between 8 and 10 incubators per million population. With 29 global offers, 516 IIM-Bangalore students bag ₹32.5 lakh average annual salary

The Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore (IIM-B) on Thursday said it has concluded placements for the Post Graduate Programme in Business Analytics (PGP-BA) 2024 and the Post Graduate Programme in Management  (PGP) 2024.  The placement week, which ended on February 7, 2024, saw 503 students placed, while 13 students were placed in a subsequent rolling placement process. The median annual salary stands at Rs. 32.5 lakhs. A record 29 students were placed abroad with Infosys Consulting (7), Strategy & Middle East (6), Jindal Shadeed (5), TransformationX (3), EY Parthenon Singapore (2), JP Morgan Chase London (2), Health City Cayman Islands (2), Fast Retailing, Japan (1) and Landmark Group, Middle East (1) while 487 students will be working in India, IIM-Bangalore said in a statement.
