No CBFC mentioned cuts implemented in Bobby Deol’s Bandar? Here’s what we know

Bobby Deol’s much-discussed film Bandar has found itself at the center of a fresh controversy shortly after its theatrical release. While the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had reportedly directed several modifications before granting the film a certificate, moviegoers and social media users are now claiming that many of those changes were not reflected in the version currently playing in theatres. Did they not follow CBFC cuts? The debate gained momentum after a social media post alleged that the makers had released a version that retained several objectionable words and scenes despite the censor board’s directives. The post claimed that many of the cuss words flagged by the CBFC were neither muted nor replaced in the theatrical cut. Why can’t women’s quota be implemented in existing House of 543? What Oppn, govt have said, and why OBC question remains| India News

After the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026 fell in the Lok Sabha on Friday — the first defeat of a bill in PM Narendra Modi’s government of 12 years so far — one question cuts through the noise of the political battle: Why can’t 33% reservation for women simply be implemented in the existing 543-seat Lok Sabha, right now? The plan, which failed, was to increase the Lok Sabha seats by a flat 50% for now to 816, to a maximum of 850 at some point; and thus give one-third reservation to women as these additional seats are created. The Opposition was up in arms against this seat-increase and delimitation exercise being hastened by using old census data even as larger questions remained unanswered. Legal position of 2023 law The 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies is already law. The Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam was passed unanimously by Parliament in September 2023, and notified in the gazette just this week, on April 16, 2026, even when a debate on its …

As India debates menstrual leave, these countries have already implemented it — mostly without pay | Health News

3 min readNew DelhiMar 18, 2026 11:00 PM IST The debate over menstrual leave has resurfaced in India after the Supreme Court recently declined to mandate a nationwide policy for paid menstrual leave. During the hearing of a petition seeking directions to states to frame such rules, the court observed that making menstrual leave compulsory through legislation could potentially affect women’s employment opportunities, as some employers might hesitate to hire women if additional leave requirements were mandated. While India continues to discuss the issue, several countries around the world already recognise menstrual leave in some form. either through national legislation or workplace policies. Japan Japan was one of the earliest countries to introduce menstrual leave. The policy dates back to 1947, when labour laws began allowing women to take time off during their menstrual cycle if they experienced discomfort or health issues. Under Japanese labour law, employers cannot require women to work if they request leave due to menstrual symptoms. However, the leave is not always paid, and many women reportedly choose not to use …

NEP-2020 undemocratically implemented by Union government: Thorat

“The Union government has implemented the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) undemocratically, without consulting state governments. It is moving towards the complete centralisation of education,” said Prof. Sukhadeo Thorat, educationist and Chairman of the Commission for State Education Policy (SEP). Inaugurating a seminar ‘Towards People’s Policy on Education 2026’ — an alternative to NEP 2020, organised by the All India Save Education Committee (AISEC) in the city on Saturday, he said that in the name of the Indian Knowledge System, irrational and unscientific curricula were being designed.  Privatisation impact “Since the wave of privatisation in the 1990s, educational inequality has been rising. Approximately 67% of higher educational institutions have become self-financing and private. Due to escalating fees, a 22% dropout rate is observed among economically disadvantaged sections. Consequently, universal education has become a mirage,” he said, and called for the adoption of a ‘People’s Education Policy’ that is scientific, secular, democratic, and universal, treating education as a public good rather than as a commodity. Prof. Thorat chaired a committee that drafted the Karnataka State Education Policy. …
