The overall pass percentage in the Class 10 board examinations rose to 96.78% after the second board examination, with 308,095 students out of 663,777 –59.95% –improving their performance, according to results announced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Saturday. While the main examination was held from February 17 to March 11, 2026, the second board examination took place from May 15 to May 21. A Class 12 student who appeared for the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) Improvement Examination from Saudi Arabia has moved the Supreme Court seeking directions for the declaration of his result, alleging that it continues to remain withheld, despite a special assessment scheme framed for students affected by examination cancellations in West Asian countries.  The writ petition, filed under Article 32 of the Constitution by Pransu Jigarkumar Patel, contended that the non-declaration of his result has jeopardised his higher education prospects and deprived him of admission opportunities. The five-year-study, to be led by the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT-D), will focus particularly on PM10 levels and is expected to strengthen evidence-based policymaking, officials said. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa chaired a meeting where the proposal for the project was presented. During the meeting, Sirsa asked departments to fast-track approvals so the study can start at the earliest, officials said. The government said the project had remained pending earlier and was later shelved. “While Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology is already undertaking work on PM2.5, there had been a prior commitment under the air pollution mitigation action plan to also take up work on PM10 in a focused manner,” officials said. According to officials, the study will move beyond periodic assessments by introducing continuous monitoring through advanced instruments and mobile units. …

Maharashtra Economic Survey projects 7.9% growth; agriculture expected to dip, industry and services show improvement | Mumbai News

Maharashtra’s economy is expected to grow at 7.9 per cent in 2025-26, according to the Government’s pre-budget Economic Survey tabled in the Assembly on Thursday. In the 2024-25 Economic Survey, the state’s economy was expected to grow by 7.3 per cent. The survey, tabled by Minister of State for Finance Ashish Jaiswal, stated that as per the advance estimates (AE) of 2025-26, the state economy is expected to grow at 7.9 per cent over 2024-25, whereas the Indian economy is expected to grow at 7.4 per cent. The agriculture and allied activities sector in the state is expected to grow at 3.4 per cent. The industrial sector will maintain growth momentum at 5.7 per cent due to expected growth in the sub-sectors of manufacturing (5.9 per cent) and construction (7.8 per cent). The services sector has remained a buoyant segment with expected robust growth of 9.0 per cent. The numbers, however, show a sharp decline when compared with the first revised estimate (FRE) for 2024-25, where the growth rate for agriculture and allied activities was …
