CPI state secretary Binoy Viswam released the candidate list soon after the Election Commission of India (ECI) declared the poll schedule for four states and a Union Territory. Four incumbent ministers — G R Anil, J Chinchurani, K Rajan and P Prasad — are in the fray. The party has also fielded sitting legislators, including K Rajan, Mohammed Muhsin, E T Taison and V R Sunil Kumar. In Nattika, former MLA Geetha Gopi is set to contest the assembly polls in place of sitting MLA C C Mukundan.
