‘What was the bowling coach doing?’: Maninder Singh on Ravi Bishnoi’s flaw | Cricket News

5 min readJul 22, 2026 10:09 PM IST The last time Ravi Bishnoi played a T20I for India, he returned with figures of 0/60 in four overs as Shreyas Iyer’s side lost to England by four wickets in Manchester. Alongside the expensive spell, another concern emerged. A fast bowler overstepping is often dismissed as an occupational hazard. For a spinner, it is far rarer – and far harder to explain. Yet Bishnoi was called for three no balls after his back foot repeatedly cut the return crease, handing England three free hits that yielded 14 runs and helped swing the match. Bishnoi is one of two spin options India have for the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe starting on Thursday, and former India spinner Maninder Singh felt that the leg-spinner’s biggest issue was a flawed run up that should have been corrected by the coaching staff. “He has to do a lot of work on his run up because you normally run straight to the stumps. He goes left, right, then left, then tries to …

‘We got a reality check’

3 min readUpdated: Jul 22, 2026 06:48 PM IST India captain Shreyas Iyer said the team had received a “reality check” during its recent tour of Ireland and stressed that adapting quickly to unfamiliar conditions would be key as they look to return to winning ways against Zimbabwe in the first T20I on Thursday. “We have to adapt as soon as possible. Because that’s what happened with us in Ireland. We got a sort of a reality check. So here, as soon as we create awareness and execute properly, the results will go our way,” Iyer said at the pre-match press conference in Harare on Wednesday. Zimbabwe will be heavy underdogs, but recent results don’t allow India to take any opposition lightly. “Their team will be good in terms of preparation. They will have a good idea about the ground,” Iyer noted. Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett on THAT six off Jasprit Bumrah to raise fifty: ‘Just let my body do the actions’ | Cricket News

3 min readFeb 27, 2026 10:56 AM IST Brian Bennett sent the white ball soaring over wide long-on and, and in that instant, the Chepauk stadium fell silent. More than 27,000 spectators watched as Jasprit Bumrah’s – India’s bowling spearhead was struck clearly into stands. The Indian fans are not used to seeing their premier fast bowler that way, especially in a World Cup. But Bennett did not just survive his first meeting with Bumrah, he announced himself. It was Bennett’s third fifty-plus score in four innings at this T20 World Cup, spread across contrasting conditions in Sri Lanka and India. As he raised his bat, the Zimbabwe dugout erupted. Teammates stood and applauded, captain Sikandar Raza banged his hands on his bat before embracing the 22-year-old. This was not just another milestone. It was a statement, that Bennett could take on the world’s best in their first meeting and belong at this level. Arshdeep Singh after India’s T20 World Cup win over Zimbabwe: ‘Bowlers ready to do the dirty work as long as our batsmen get wickets they enjoy batting on’ | Cricket News

Arshdeep Singh after India’s T20 World Cup win over Zimbabwe: ‘Bowlers ready to do the dirty work as long as our batsmen get wickets they enjoy batting on’ | Cricket News

Hours before the game started, Arshdeep Singh’s family was watching the South Africa versus West Indies game in their hotel room in Chennai. “When the West Indies batsmen were hitting, my dad used to chide, saying, ‘what are you doing, what are you doing?” he recounted, chuckling. His reply was practical: “I said, it’s okay, don’t worry, just enjoy the match, and hope that South Africa wins, and we win both our matches well.” It was how he approached the game, too, without any nerves but with the belief that India would beat Zimbabwe. “I think if we win, we play good cricket, the result will take care of itself. We had a lot of fun, they played very well, and we’ll try to not lose in the finals,” he said. ICC T20 World Cup: Zimbabwe coach hopes Chepauk’s bigger boundaries will give them a chance against India | Cricket News

3 min readFeb 26, 2026 04:38 PM IST The West Indies batsmen made merry on the smaller Wankhede Stadium as Shimron Hetmyer and his mates took the Zimbabwe bowlers to the cleaners, amassing 254 in 20 overs. The African side was coming from the more sluggish pitches and bigger fields in Sri Lanka, where scores were relatively lower. Fielding lapses didn’t help their cause, but the conditions at the batting paradise in Mumbai were not to their liking. Even though the muscular Caribbean batsmen didn’t middle all of their big hits, they often found the stands as 60m shots were often enough for maximums. The pitch at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium is also expected to be batting-friendly, but the Zimbabwe team management is hoping that the bigger playing surface may give them a chance. “Certainly, I think, you know, from a boundary size point of view, I think it was probably one of the biggest differences,” Zimbabwe head coach Justin Sammons was quoted as saying by The Herald newspaper. “I think a lot of those …

3 min readFeb 26, 2026 12:30 PM IST India vs Zimbabwe T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 Match Live Score Streaming Online: A wounded India are set to face Zimbabwe in a crucial Super Eights encounter in the 2026 T20 World Cup. India’s chances to reach the semi-finals of the tournament took a major hit when they collapsed to a 76-run loss to South Africa in their opening match of the Super Eights. That has left with India with no choice but to win both their remaining group games, with at least one of them having to be big wins so that they don’t fall behind on net run rate. Zimbabwe, on the other hand, were never really expected to make it to the Super Eights and realistically have no weight of expectations riding on them, unlike India. All-rounder Ryan Burl admitted that India possibly buckling under pressure is something that Zimbabwe are hoping for. Zimbabwe had lost their first match of the Super Eights to the West Indies. A big boost for them would …

2 min readFeb 26, 2026 08:30 AM IST India vs Zimbabwe T20 World Cup 2026 Match Playing 11: Suryakumar Yadav’s India will take on Sikandar Raza’s Zimbabwe on Thursday in Chennai. For the hosts, it is a must-win game. They have played some pretty decent cricket through the tournament, but their first game against South Africa and India was completely outplayed. Sanju Samson is expected to return to the side to break the sequence of left-handers in the batting order. However, Samson, coming into the tournament, has been in a pretty ordinary form and got his opportunity against Namibia, where he managed to get 22 runs from eight balls. Apart from that, Axar Patel was benched for the game against South Africa, with the form the all-rounder was in, and he too will return to the side. As per Zimbabwe, after a terrific group stage performance, they too have been thrashed by the West Indies in their first Super 8 encounter. Not too many gave them a chance to reach this stage, but they played …
