Deepti Sharma, Shafali Verma, Richa Ghosh: key to India’s T20 World Cup hopes Deepti, Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh perform vastly different roles, yet each influences a phase of the game that could determine whether India finally goes the distance. 3 min readKochiFeb 15, 2026 04:59 PM IST Although the India-Pakistan rivalry has been ongoing for decades, it reached a new high following the 2025 Pahalgam attack and the subsequent Operation Sindoor. While real-world conflicts between the two countries have always significantly impacted cricket, the 2025 incidents worsened matters, following which proposed matches between India and Pakistan faced uncertainty until the n-th hour, and Indian players refused to shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts during last year’s Asia Cup. Now, amid strife over Bangladesh being replaced in the tournament by Scotland for refusing to tour India due to safety concerns, India and Pakistan are set to lock horns in a group-stage match at the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Despite frictions between the two nations, which have been especially intense since the 2008 Mumbai attacks, there have been times when renowned figures from one country heaped praise on those from the other, particularly in the realm of cricket. Among the notable instances is former cricketer and bowling legend Wasim Akram’s commendation of Shah …

However, the team is in good form and will look to adapt and tackle the conditions. Story continues below this ad As per Pakistan, every time India met them during the Asia Cup 2025 in September altough they had periods of dominance in the game, they could not keep sustained pressure on India. …

Mohsin Naqvi staring at a loss of 40 billion with his stubborn stand; ICC’s steps can break PCB’s backbone: Report

Pakistan Cricket Board could be staring at a major financial squeeze if the International Cricket Council decides to penalise it for refusing to play India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, with the potential hit linked directly to the board’s ICC revenue stream, reported by PTI. PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi (AFP) The concern centres on how heavily PCB’s financial planning depends on ICC distributions across the ongoing cycle. If deductions are imposed — whether as penalties or compensation tied to commercial damage — the impact would not be cosmetic. The India–Pakistan match is treated as the single biggest broadcast driver in global cricket, and rights holders structure advertising and revenue projections around it. A no-show, therefore, is seen as a threat to the wider event economics, with the consequences potentially flowing into the same revenue pool from which member boards are paid. Recent spending only sharpens the risk. PCB has been involved in significant stadium upgrade work across key venues, and it is noted that the return from hosting-related income has not been …

Beyond Cricket: Why Pakistan Decided To Skip India Match At T20 World Cup | India News

Last Updated:February 01, 2026, 21:55 IST According to sources, the decision came in view of the Pakistani government’s stand to earn good relations with Bangladesh at the cost of a match with the Indian cricket team.  Pakistan announced that they will participate in the T20 World Cup 2026 but will boycott the match against India. (Picture Credit: AFP) Pakistan’s move to boycott their match against India at the T20 World Cup goes beyond cricket, exhibiting blatant politicisation of the game, according to top government sources. According to the sources, Islamabad is uncomfortable about their India match at the group stage, especially since Pakistan had initially threatened to withdraw from the tournament in solidarity with Bangladesh. Bangladesh refused to play their matches in India, resulting in their replacement by Scotland. Pakistan too indicated it could withdraw from the tournament. Nonetheless, the country’s government allowed their team to participate but announced the boycott of the India match. The decision came close on the heels of Islamabad naming India for the attacks in Balochistan without any proof, a …

Family Accused Of Anti-India Slogans During Cricket Match Claims No Interest In Sports

Mumbai: Weeks after a 15-year-old boy and his family were booked over anti-India slogans during a cricket match in Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district, they have claimed that the teen attended a madrasa for studies and wasn’t interested in playing the sport or watching matches. On February 23, a complaint was lodged against the boy, his father, who is a scrap dealer, and his mother in the Tarkarli Road area of Malvan over the alleged raising of anti-India slogans during an India-Pakistan cricket match. The couple was arrested, and the teen was presented before a juvenile board. In the days that followed, the family’s shop and house were razed by the civic authorities, who claimed that the structures were unauthorised. A godown of the accused scrap dealer’s brother was also demolished following complaints by locals, and a notice was also served to the landowner. The family, which hails from Uttar Pradesh, has alleged that some people had conspired to trap their son using specific words and engaging him in a conversation. A senior police official from Sindhudurg …

Shashi Tharoor Shrugs Off Congress Rift Question

Shashi Tharoor Shrugs Off Congress Rift Question

New Delhi: “Go watch the match,” Congress MP Shashi Tharoor told reporters on Sunday, as he shrugged off questions on a possible rift between him and the party over his recent praise of the Left government in Kerala and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s to the United States. “It’s an important match today,” the MP from Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram said, referring to the ICC Champions Trophy match between India and Pakistan, which began in Dubai this afternoon. The Congress leader was asked if “all is well between you and the party”. To this, he said: “No comments at all.”  Mr Tharoor has come under criticism from several Congress leaders ever since he praised the CPI(M) government’s policies in Kerala and the Prime Minister’s meeting with US President Donald Trump. In an article in an English daily on February 14, the Congress MP praised the Pinarayi Vijayan-led LDF government’s handling of the Kerala economy.  His remarks were welcomed by the Left party but drew criticism from fellow Congress leaders. “As a Member of Parliament from Kerala, I wrote …
