Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has pledged that agreements on energy supplies to India will be fulfilled despite unfair external competition, as he underlined that the relations between the two countries are based on friendship and there is no scenario in which their paths would diverge. In an interview with Russia Today-India ahead of his visit to New Delhi this week, Mr. Lavrov also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he is one of the most energetic leaders the world has ever seen. “I can guarantee that India’s interests as they apply to Russian supplies will not suffer. The share of friendly countries in Russia’s trade turnover has reached a historic high of 86%, with particular growth in trade with China, Belarus, India, and Kazakhstan, Mr. Mishustin said. In the financial year 2024–25, total India-Russia trade reached an all-time high of about $68.7 billion, up sharply from roughly $13 billion in 2021, marking nearly a five – to six- fold increase over four years. On a day Russian President Vladimir Putin launched the India arm of state-funded Russia Today (RT) network, New Delhi and Moscow signed five media collaboration agreements between public broadcaster Prasar Bharati and various Russian media companies.These include Joint Stock Company Gazprom-media Holding, National Media Group, BIG ASIA Media Group, ANO TV-Novosti and TV BRICS. These MoUs are between Prasar Bharati and Russian media organisations and entail broadening cooperation in the field of broadcasting, content sharing and information exchange, said the Ministry of External Affairs. Prasar Bharati already had a pact with TV-Novosti, which owns RT India, but an addendum to the same was signed on Friday in the presence of the two heads of state. Later in the day, Putin launched RT India operations from a make-shift studio setup at a five-star hotel in New Delhi. After a search spanning several days, the body of Ajit Chaudhary, a 22-year-old Indian student from Rajasthan’s Alwar district, has been recovered from a dam near White River in Ufa city, Russia. Ajit, a resident of Kafanwada village in Alwar and was pursuing MBBS course at Bashkir State Medical University in Ufa, had been missing since October 19, 2025, when he left his hostel and did not return. A day later, his clothes were found near the riverbank, prompting an extensive search operation. Family members were informed about the recovery of his body on Thursday (November 6, 2025) afternoon. Ajit’s friends and fellow students in Russia confirmed his identity. The local authorities have sent the body for post-mortem before initiating its repatriation to India, which could take up to two days, his uncle Narayan Chaudhary said.
