ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Team Squad update: The squads for the 20 teams featuring in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka have almost been fully announced ahead of the mandatory cut-off date of January 30. On December 20, 2025, co-hosts India became the first team to announce their squad for the showpiece event, which will feature 20 teams for only the second time in history since the previous edition in the Americas in 2024. However, certain injuries could force a change or two for the Men in Blue ahead of the tournament. Amid pull-out threats and other uncertainties following Bangladesh’s exit from the tournament, Pakistan revealed their squad last week. They were followed by the West Indies, who will be led by Shai Hope. Scotland, who replaced Bangladesh in the tournament, unveiled their team on Monday with Richie Berrington leading the side. Tilak Varma ruled out for remaining New Zealand T20Is, Shreyas Iyer to continue | Cricket News

Shreyas Iyer will remain in the Indian squad for the remainder of their ongoing T20I series against New Zealand, with Tilak Varma now slated to join the team only before India’s warm-up match for the 2026 T20 World Cup. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that Varma is making steady progress with his rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. “However, he will require additional time to regain full match fitness and will not be available for the final two T20Is of the ongoing IDFC First Bank five-match T20I series,” said the BCCI in a statement. “Tilak will link up with the squad in Mumbai once he has regained full match fitness on 3rd February, ahead of India’s warm-up match for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The Men’s Selection Committee has recommended that Shreyas Iyer will continue as Tilak Varma’s replacement for the remaining matches.” Iyer is yet to get a match thus far in the series, with India already confirming victory in the series by taking a …

‘Always a dream to play in a World Cup but hope the team keeps the trophy here’: Mohammed Siraj on T20 World Cup snub | Cricket News

Mohammed Siraj was a huge part of India’s 2024 T20 World Cup win, both on the field and off it once the trophy was won. Just about a year later, he was universally hailed for his incredible performances which were central to a new-look Indian Test team drawing a five-match series 2-2 in England. However, Siraj’s appearances in limited overs cricket, particularly T20Is, have somewhat dwindled since, culminating in him missing out on the squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup. Siraj was not included in India’s last ODI series against South Africa. He is leading the pace battery in the ongoing one against New Zealand though and said on the eve of the decisive third ODI against the Kiwis that he was rested for the ODI series against South Africa due to the amount of overs he bowled in the preceding Test series. “I was rested in that ODI series against South Africa because I had bowled about 40 overs in the Test match before that which went the full five days,” Siraj told …

Shubman Gill breaks silence on getting omitted from T20 World Cup squad: ‘I am where I have to be’ | Cricket News

Shubman Gill breaks silence on getting omitted from T20 World Cup squad: ‘I am where I have to be’ | Cricket News

India’s Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill has said that he respected the selectors’ decision to omit him from the T20 World Cup squad last month. The 26-year-old, who was made the T20I vice-captain last August, was omitted from the 15-member squad with Axar Patel reinstated as the deputy to Suryakumar Yadav. “I respect the selectors’ decision. All the best to the team for the T20 World Cup. I am where I have to be, and whatever is written in my destiny, no one can take that from me. A player always believes he will try his best for the country, and the selectors have taken their decision,”Gill told reporters before the first ODI against New Zealand. Gill took over India’s ODI captain in October, but has been out of action since mid-November after suffering a neck injury in the Test series against South Africa. The 26-year-old said that it was frustrating to be on the sidelines and watch the team play while being out injured. “Never easy, especially whenever you get injured, watching your …

‘Ajit should be given 10/10 for the team’: India spin legend hails Agarkar for T20 World Cup squad selection | Cricket News

‘Ajit should be given 10/10 for the team’: India spin legend hails Agarkar for T20 World Cup squad selection | Cricket News

India spin legend Harbhajan Singh hailed his former national teammate Ajit Agarkar for overlooking the selection of a comprehensive squad for their T20 World Cup title defence which begins in February in the sub-continent. On December 20, 2025, the Agarkar-led national selection committee unveiled the 15-member squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup, making India the first of the 20 teams in the competition to reveal their squads for the showpiece event. Harbhajan said the selection panel chaired by Agarkar had done a remarkable job, even as he rued the non-selection of ODI and Test captain Shubman Gill. Gill had returned as vice-captain of the side during the 2025 Asia Cup last September, but eventually lost his spot out to Sanju Samson. CHECK OUT | T20 World Cup 2026 Squads: Full player list of all 20 teams “The team is really good. I had told that Ajit should be given 10/10 for the team. I felt a little bad for Shubman, but he will get more chances soon. All the players are match winners in …

What Ishan Kishan can learn from Rishabh Pant’s fate? Carry the sword, but don’t forget the shield | Cricket News

What Ishan Kishan can learn from Rishabh Pant’s fate? Carry the sword, but don’t forget the shield | Cricket News

Rishabh Pant is a compulsive risk-taker, a perpetual rollercoaster rider and an enigma who toggles between “stupid, stupid, stupid” and “superb, superb, superb”. He is a special batting talent with an uncanny knack for frustrating coaches and selectors. Recently, during the South Africa Test series that India lost, the wicket-keeper cum stand-in captain, true to his reputation, had coaches pulling their hair out after he played the kind of stroke that clearly indicated brain-fade. There were repercussions. As collateral damage, his Test misgivings resulted in him not making it to the T20 World Cup that starts at home next month. And it’s been said that his place in the ODI team too is in doubt. That’s life for batsmen living on the edge. They take calculated risks and also gamble to ace odds. These batting buccaneers keep burying the good old ethos of batting to build their own creed. That bargain comes with consequences, as Rishabh would have realised. But then he can’t help it; he is a compulsive stroke-maker. Rishabh belongs to the Cult …

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and now Shubman Gill: How Gautam Gambhir and Ajit Agarkar consistently rejected star-culture | Cricket News

The year in which the world took fat jabs and got thinner, Indian cricket also took the revolutionary step of discarding its heavyweights. 2025 will be remembered for Indian cricket taking some very un-Indian cricketing decisions. First, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were told they wouldn’t be needed for Tests. And by the year’s end, just about a month before the T20 World Cup at home; Shubman Gill – the Test, ODI captain, and T20I vice-captain – was dropped. Be it the Kings or the Prince, no one was extended extra-ordinary privileges. Never-ever in India had cricketing royalty been unilaterally treated as commoners. These bolts from the blue were a blow to cricket’s deep-rooted cult of personality. Uncertainty looms over 2026 T20 World Cup for injured Pat Cummins | Cricket News

Uncertainty looms over 2026 T20 World Cup for injured Pat Cummins | Cricket News

Australia Test captain Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the remaining Test matches in the Ashes but it is uncertain for now if the fast bowler will be available for the 2026 T20 World Cup as well. Cummins could play just one Test in the Ashes, the recently concluded match in Adelaide which Australia won and thus confirmed a series victory. The 35-year-old took as many as six wickets in Australia’s 82-run win, having sat the first two Tests out due to a lumbar stress reaction that he had sustained following their tour of the West Indies earlier this year. Australia head coach Andrew McDonald said that among the discussion that he will have with selectors will be about whether Cummins can be included in the squad for the T20 World Cup, which they are to name soon. “That’ll be an assessment,” McDonald said of Cummins’ T20 World Cup chances. “I’m assuming he’ll have a check-in scan at some point and gather more information around where his back is at… looking forward to the …
