Pat Cummins on experts reacting to Josh Hazlewood’s batter comments: ‘There’s enough commentators that will support…some that will, of course, create some headlines’ | Cricket News

With the Second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Adelaide Oval drawing close, Australian Captain Pat Cummins made clear to the media that there is no tension within the players and the dressing is not divided, refuting the statements that were made by experts. Cummins told the press that the commentators had gotten it “100 percent wrong” after wrongly interpreting Hazlewood’s comments during the First Test in Perth, which made it seem like he shifted the responsibility just to the batsmen. “The team’s great. Some of the commentators got that 100 per cent wrong,” Cummins said. “We’ve prepared like we always do and get around each other. It’s a great feeling around the team. We don’t make too much of it.” “When things don’t go right, there’s enough commentators that will support you but also some that will, of course, create some headlines. We try not to take too much notice of it. We just go about our things.” When asked about if Australian batters would chase down what has India put on in …

Ben Stokes lashes out at ICC for docking WTC points after remarks of not caring about Championship | Cricket News

England’s quick eight-wicket win over New Zealand in Christchurch was met with a surprise for both teams when the ICC decided to dock points from both sides for slow-over rates during the game. Due to their over-rate offences, both teams received three-point penalties in the World Test Championship (WTC) points table. England captain Ben Stokes took to social media on Wednesday to express his disappointment with the decision, saying they had “finished the match with 10 hours of play still left.” The players were also fined 15 per cent of their match fees. England were given a target of 104 runs, which Stokes’ men chased down within 13 overs within the fourth day. However, as per ICC guidelines, both teams were deemed to have been three overs behind in their respective innings. With six and a half hours of play on Day 1, England bowled 83 overs taking into consideration the eight wickets that were fallen. To put it into better perspective, there were 77 overs bowled on the first day of the first Test …

Yashasvi Jaiswal equals Sunil Gavaskar’s 46-year-old record with dogged century in Perth Test – India TV

Image Source : AP Yashasvi Jaiswal. After a forgettable outing in the first innings where he bagged an eight-ball duck, Yashasvi Jaiswal changed his fortunes around in style as he smashed a dogged and memorable hundred in the second innings to put India in pole position in the ongoing Perth Test. Jaiswal has now become only the third India player to score a hundred in their maiden Test appearance in Australia. Only two other Indians had scored a hundred in their first Test appearance in Australia and they were Motganhalli Jaisimha and Sunil Gavaskar. Jaisimha scored 74 and 101 in the Brisbane Test which was played between India and Australia in January 1968. On the other hand, Gavaskar had scored 3 and 113 in the Brisbane Test in 1977 against Australia.  Notably, the former India opener Murali Vijay had come very close to getting on the list but was adjudged leg before wicket (LBW) on 99 in the second innings of the Adelaide Test which was his first red-ball appearance in Australia. India players to score a century …

KL Rahul dismissal controversy: ‘Thought it was just a regulation wicket,’ says Mitchell Starc | Cricket News

KL Rahul’s wicket kicked up a storm of controversy in the opening day of the first Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy but Australia pacer Mitchell Starc remarked that he thought it was a ‘regulation’ wicket. “It got overturned obviously, but I thought it was regulation, the sound it made, the timing of it, I thought it was just a regulation wicket,” Starc said at the press conference after the day’s play. Rahul (26), who anchored India’s innings was controversially given out after a review of caught behind off the bowling of Starc on the stroke of lunch on Day 1 in Perth. While the on-field umpire didn’t give it out originally, it was overturned after a spike appeared on snicko, even though Rahul felt that it was from his bat hitting his pad. The Indian opener was in absolute disbelief and had a chat with the on-field umpires before walking back to the hut. Former India head coach Ravi Shastri, who was commentating for Fox Cricket, said there was not enough evidence for …
