Bharti Fulmali, Shreyanka Patil earn T20 recalls as India announce strong squad for Australia tour | Cricket News

Bharti Fulmali and Shreyanka Patil were recalled to the T20I setup, while left-arm spinner VaishnaviSharma earned her maiden ODI call-up as India announced strong white-ball squads on Saturday for their upcoming tour of Australia in February. Fulmali has been in fine form for Gujarat Giants in the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL), where her explosive knocks lower down the innings have propelled the side, either batting first or second. The right-hander has played two T20Is for India, the last of which came against England in Guwahati in 2019. Patil claimed her maiden WPL five-wicket haul for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) against the Giants on Friday, claiming 5/23 to lead her side to a 32-run win. The 23-year-old has played 16 T20Is for India, the last of which came against Australia in the 2024 T20 World Cup in Sharjah. The concerns for India will be regarding their batting order. Shafali Verma was out cheaply for the second straight match, this time for a duck in the first over. And as was the case in the match against West Indies, once again Harmanpreet Kaur walked in at No 3. As head coach Amol Muzumdar hinted in the pre-departure press conference in India, it would seem the skipper is the chosen one to bat one drop. But the return wasn’t there against South Africa either as Harmanpreet departed for a 11-ball 10. Harmanpreet has traditionally batted at No 4 …
