Amandeep Johl appointed CEO of PGTI

Amandeep Johl has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), effective in January 2025. Amandeep, who replaced Uttam Singh Mundy, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. The 55-year-old will assume the charge on January 1. In the interim period until December 31, he will assist Mundy in completing the handover process. Amandeep has been an integral part of Indian golf since making it to the junior Indian team in 1985. He became the national amateur champion in 1989. He wore many hats, be it as a professional player on the Asian and European Tours, a national coach, a board member of the PGTI and a founding member of the Asian Tour (2004). The Indian Golf Union announced on Tuesday that the Indian Open golf tournament, a part of the DP World Tour, will take place from March 27 to 30, 2025. The tournament carries a prize money of $2.25 million. However, the venue for the tournament has not been announced yet. DLF Golf and Country Club is likely to host the Indian Open golf. “The Indian Open is the property of the Indian Golf Union since its inaugural edition in 1964. Hero MotoCorp will continue to be the title sponsors of the tournament. They have been the title sponsor since 2005,” a statement issued by the IGU read. “We are pleased to receive the continued patronage of title sponsors Hero MotoCorp consecutively for the 17th edition.
