Extending its saffron brushstroke in north and east India, the BJP was Monday set for a decisive win over the TMC in long elusive West Bengal and headed for another term in Assam. Following the West Bengal Assembly Election Results 2026, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to increase its number of Chief Ministers to 17 across India. Prior to the latest result, the BJP had Chief Ministers in 16 states. The addition of West Bengal marks a further expansion of the party’s political presence. However, the name of the new West Bengal CM was yet to be declared. With this development, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will now have a total of 22 Chief Ministers across the country, including those from its alliance partners.
