Martina Devi wins three medals
Martina Devi Maibam, India’s final competitor at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships, clinched two silver and one bronze medal in the junior 87+ Kg category in Doha, Qatar on Wednesday. Martina could not find her best form and finished way below her personal best of 237 Kg and had to settle for a silver medal, having a total of 225 Kg. She started the competition by lifting 96 Kg in the snatch to win the bronze medal. However, she did a better performance in the Clean & Jek and managed to lift 129 Kg and clinch the silver medal. She also tried a final lift of 136 Kg in C&J but faced a slight injury on her knee and failed to do so. With Martina’s three medals, India ended the Junior competition with 12 medals: 8 Silver, and 4 bronze medals.
