Following a week of widespread flight cancellations and soaring ticket prices, the government has imposed temporary caps on domestic airfares to ease the burden on passengers. IndiGo cancelled over 1,600 flights nationwide in the past week, causing chaos across airports, reducing seat availability, and prompting what the Ministry of Civil Aviation described as an “unreasonable surge” in fares on major routes. In a directive issued Friday, the ministry announced maximum fare limits for different route lengths, effective immediately:   Important: Fares exclude airport levies and taxes • Not applicable to business class and UDAN flights • Valid until fares stabilise or further review Express InfoGenIE   The caps exclude User Development Fee, Passenger Service Fee, and other taxes, and do not apply to Business Class or Regional Connectivity Scheme-UDAN flights.
