QS Asia University Rankings 2026: 7 Indian institutes in top 100, IIT Delhi leads for 5th straight year

Five Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru and Delhi University figured in Asia’s top 100 institutes, according to the QS University Rankings announced on Tuesday. IIT-Delhi, IIT-Madras, IIT-Bombay, IIT-Kanpur and IIT-Kharagpur were in the list of top 100 Asian institutes. “Seven Indian institutions rank in the top 100 in QS World University Asia rankings, 20 in the top 200 and 66 in the top 500,” London based QS said in a statement. QS World University Rankings: 5 IITs feature among top 50 institutes by subject, ISM Dhanbad shines; check details

Five IITs, including Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, Bombay, Madras, Kharagpur, and the Indian School of Mines in Dhanbad, have featured among the top 50 institutions in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025. ISM Dhanbad, which has been given the status of an IIT, has been awarded the highest rank for an Indian institution in the table. The institute has secured rank 20 globally in Engineering (Mineral and Mining) division. This is an improvement from last year’s rank 41. IIT Delhi and Bombay, which shared the 45th rank for Engineering and Technology last year, have improved their position to bag the 26th and 28th spots, respectively. However, in the Engineering-Mineral and Mining division, IIT Bombay saw a drop in its rank to the 28th position. IIT Kharagpur has also seen a drop in its rank, securing the 45th spot. The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) on Saturday said it has issued legal notices to “a number of individuals, including politicians” who have levelled “baseless” allegations against the body on the row over the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) held on December 13 across the state. BPSC advertised vacancy for 40,506 head teachers and the written test scheduled on December 22. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has prepared guidelines for the introduction of skill-based courses and micro-credentials in Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) aiming to equip students with practical and industry-relevant skills along with academic knowledge for securing jobs. The guidelines containing standard operating procedure (SOP) for implementation of skill-based courses.
