DC instructs officials to expedite implementation of PM-JANMAN in Mysuru

Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy directed the officials to expedite the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) in the district. Mr. Reddy was chairing a review meeting pertaining here on Thursday. With respect to the PM-JANMAN, the officials were instructed to ensure power connections to 18 tribal hamlets under the scheme. The PM-JANMAN aims to provide saturation coverage of government schemes among the particularly vulnerable tribal groups and will provide facilities at their doorsteps. Out of 18 hamlets, 14 are in H.D. Kote and four are in Periyapatana taluks. The Health Department officials were directed to launch mobile medical units while officials from the Education Department were told to ensure the completion of hostels that have been sanctioned and approved under the scheme. Completion of road, provision of drinking water, etc. were to be completed in a time-bound manner, said Mr. Reddy. Mysuru Zilla Panchayat CEO K.M. Gayathri inspected the maintenance of the multi-village drinking water supply project at Kethupura village in T. Narasipur taluk and instructed the officers present to construct a retaining wall around the jackwell. During a surprise inspection of the village to take stock of the maintenance works and development works, Ms. Gayathri first visited the multi-village water project site along with the Zilla Panchayat officials and gave instructions for cleaning the area around the jackwell. She said the panel board had been repaired and told the officials for its installation. As a precautionary measure, the water purification plant is located close to the forest and in view of instances of wild animals straying near the site, it is advisable to install a solar fence around the site for the safety of the staff working at the plant, she suggested. Image Source : PTI Delhi High Court New Delhi: In the wake of rising cases of deepfakes, the Delhi High Court has directed the Centre to nominate members for a panel to examine the issue of deepfakes. The direction from the high court came after it was informed by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) that a committee had been formed on November 20 on deepfake matters. Earlier, the court had directed the Centre to file a status report on the steps being taken by it to counter the menace of deepfake technology, which is increasing every day. The development comes as two pleas were filed on the menace of deepfake technology. One of the pleas was filed by Rajat Sharma, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of Independent News Service Private Limited (INDIA TV). In the plea, Rajat Sharma sought regulation of deepfake technology in the country and directions to block public access to apps and software enabling the creation of such content.
