Techie claims company offered ₹23,000 internship but asked for ₹1,594 to confirm enrolment: ‘Pure scam’

A Jaipur-based techie has exposed an internship offer that allegedly asked candidates to pay a fee before joining the company. The post, shared on X by user Poonam, quickly went viral and drew reactions from several users who claimed they had received similar offers. Netizens called the offer a scam and warned students against paying companies for internships. But phle company ko pocket money chahiye…” According to the offer letter, the internship promised a monthly basic pay of ₹22,500 along with performance-based incentives. It also mentioned an internet allowance of ₹500 per month, taking the gross monthly salary to ₹23,500. The listed in-hand salary was ₹23,000 per month. The document further stated that interns would be assigned a client and project after onboarding and that the stipend would be paid only after successful completion of the assigned work. The scheme, announced in the 2024 Union Budget, aims to provide internship opportunities to 1 crore youth in top-500 companies over five years. A pilot project of the scheme, started on October 3, aims to provide 1.25 lakh internship opportunities during 2024-25. In a release on Sunday, the corporate affairs ministry said approximately 6.21 lakh applications have been received against 1.27 lakh internship opportunities. Internship scheme opens for candidates to register, over 80,000 positions listed

Youth applicants aged between 21-24 years can now apply for the PM Internship Scheme, with the government opening the registration window for them on Saturday. Over 80,000 internship opportunities across 737 districts and 24 sectors have been listed on the portal for the scheme, with five states of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh accounting for over 56 per cent of the total listed internships. The Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme that aims to provide internship to one crore youth in top 500 companies over five years had earlier opened its portal for companies to register their internship opportunities for the pilot phase from October 3. Over the last one week, the portal has added more than 80,000 internship opportunities across 24 sectors including oil, gas & energy sector, travel & hospitality, automotives, banking and financial services, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), which is the implementing ministry for the scheme, said in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “PM Internship Portal will go live for the registration of candidates from 5.00 PM today. …
