The police had earlier refused to register a case; the court’s order now paves the way for further action. A court on Saturday denied anticipatory bail to Nida Khan, an accused in the alleged sexual exploitation and religious coercion case linked to the Tata Consultancy Services BPO in Nashik. Nida Khan had cited her pregnancy while seeking pre-arrest bail. (HT file photo) Referring to her offence as a “serious one”, the court stressed that Nida Khan was one of the prime accused in the case, deeming her custodial interrogation to be “necessary”, Public Prosecutor Ajay Misar said. “The court rejected Nida Khan’s bail application today. The enforcement agency had conducted search operations at multiple premises associated with Mr. Anvar and others in November 2025. The Karnataka Government Tuesday submitted before the High Court that the custodial interrogation of BJP MLA Byrathi Basavaraj in connection with the Bikla Shiva murder case is necessary, while also questioning the maintainability of his petition for anticipatory bail. Basavaraj is accused Number 5 in the murder case of real estate operative V G Shivaprakash, also known as Bikla Shiva, who was killed in front of his house in East Bengaluru in July last year. The murder was allegedly carried out by a group at the direction of Jagadish alias Jaga, a local gangster who is alleged to have links with Byrathi Basavaraj. Jagadish, who is accused No 1 in the case, previously had disputes with Bikla Shiva related to the real estate business. New Delhi: In a significant breach of border security, a Pakistani national was apprehended by the Border Security Force (BSF) during the intervening night of May 3–4, after he was spotted illegally entering Indian territory in the Gurdaspur district of Punjab. The intruder, identified as Husnain, son of Muhammad Ajmal and a resident of Gujranwala district, Pakistan, was intercepted approximately 250 meters inside Indian territory, near Falku Nala, ahead of the Border Security fence in the alignment of Border Pillar No. 63/M. Tahawwur Rana has maintained that his business, “First World Immigration Services”, was a legitimate enterprise and not a front for terrorist activities. New Delhi: Tahawwur Rana, alleged mastermind of the 26/11 terrorist attack in Mumbai, was questioned by the Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch in an interrogation lasting for eight hours. A senior official said that Rana was not cooperative during the interrogation and did not answer the questions properly. Rana, a Pakistani-origin Canadian citizen, is currently in the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) after being extradited from the United States.
