Mardaani 3 Box Office Collections: Rani Mukerji’s investigative cop drama collects Rs 75 lakh in 5th weekend, cume hits Rs 48 crore in 31 days

Mardaani 3, directed by Abhiraj Minawala, added Rs. 75 lakh to the tally in its 5th weekend, witnessing a 45 per cent drop over the last weekend. This takes its total cume to Rs. 48 crore nett in its 31 days of theatrical run.  The Rani Mukerji starrer is now running in its final legs at the box office. It is expected to wind up its entire run at Rs. 50 crore nett, which will be a good total for a film like this. For the record, Mardaani 3 has already surpassed the lifetime cume of Mardaani 2, becoming the franchise’ highest grossing movie. It is also the only successful female-led franchise film from Hindi cinema, with three instalments.  One thing that has been going wrong with films lately is that the costs have increased a lot. A film that used to cost x a couple of years ago has increased to 2x, some even going 3x. Mardaani 3 has done well in this regard as the film has been made in controlled budget. The movie will …

Agnyathavasi Movie Review: An atmospheric investigative drama that revels in its complex simplicity | Movie-review News

Agnyathavasi Movie Review: Agnyathavasi is the last film where you’d expect an objectifying number finding itself in the narrative. This is a slow-burn drama set in the idyllic Malnad region. This is set in the late 90s, and features an ageing inspector, a much-older retired postmaster, a lot of conversations about parenting and farming, and a murder. So it doesn’t make sense that Agnyathavasi features a song that objectifies, literally. And the object in question is a computer… the first one to arrive at the village. The way the camera caresses the curvature of the monitor, the first time it is switched on, the first time the keyboard is used… there is so much focus on the computer, which is going to change the fate of a few people. But they don’t know it yet. And the best part? We don’t either. Director Janardhan Chikkanna treats Agnyathavasi like it is a gripping novella that takes just the right amount of time to establish its characters, the tantalising locations, and the various equations that determines the …

D55: Dhanush’s next with Amaran director Rajkumar Periasamy to be an investigative thriller based on real-life events? REPORT

Rajkumar Periasamy is all set to collaborate with Dhanush for his next project, following the massive success of his last film Amaran. The war drama, based on the real life of martyred Major Mukund Varadarajan, was headlined by Sivakarthikeyan. Now, his next venture, tentatively titled D55, with the Raayan star, seems to have locked in on a potential storyline. As per a new report, the upcoming movie is likely to be based on a real-life incident and will fall under the investigative thriller genre. Dhanush is said to be taking on a completely new avatar for the film.  However, having said that, these are merely conjectures, as there has been no official confirmation on the matter. Notably, the filmmaker, in a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter, had mentioned that his movie with Dhanush would be based on the lives of unsung heroes. Rajkumar Periasamy said, “My next is with Dhanush sir. My previous film was about a hero—I mean, he was a gallantry award recipient—but the next one will be about many unsung heroes. …
