IOA’s November 10 Special General Meeting Postponed Indefinitely

The internal strife within the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) took a new turn on October 28 as the Executive Council (EC) members opposing IOA President PT Usha postponed the Special General Meeting (SGM) set for November 10. This follows a recent postponement directed by Usha for the originally scheduled October 25 SGM. The indefinite delay, attributed to “unforeseen circumstances,” marks yet another instance of friction within the IOA, as the body grapples with leadership disagreements and competing directives. The postponement was communicated by joint secretary Kalyan Chaubey, who is recognized by the dissenting EC members as the acting CEO, despite Usha’s appointment of Raghuram Iyer as CEO earlier this year. In his latest notice, Chaubey canceled both the October 25 SGM and the November 10 rescheduling. He stated that a new notice with a revised agenda would be issued in due time. The original meeting had several agenda points, including a motion of no-confidence against Usha.
