Parag also faced the ire of the BCCI, which slashed 25 per cent of his match fee and handed him a demerit point two days after the incident. Visuals of the incident, captured during the live broadcast, had gone viral online and triggered widespread debate. The BCCI also added that it ‘is also exploring other options to initiate proceedings for stringent action against the erring team, its officials and player/s to ensure that the reputation of IPL remains intact.’ Former India off-spinner R Ashwin responded to the incident involving his former Rajasthan teammate and said that such episodes were avoidable for a cricket in a public platform. GT vs RCB: The Jason Holder-Patidar catch IPL controversy — Ian Bishop thinks it wasn’t out | Cricket News

3 min readMay 1, 2026 06:00 AM IST Rajat Patidar had pulled Arshad Khan to the right of deep square-leg. Holder rushed across, Rabada converging too before pulling out at the last instant. Holder lunged to pouch it — and then the questions started. Did the ball touch the ground as he went down? Did he use the ball itself to push himself back up, pressing it into the turf? Holder’s fingers were under it, or they weren’t. RCB thought one thing. The third umpire thought another. At Lord’s in 2023, Mitchell Starc dived to take a catch off Ben Duckett at fine leg, the ball scraping along the turf as he slid around the boundary. Australia were convinced it was out. The third umpire disagreed. The MCC subsequently clarified why, pointing to Law 33.3, which states that a catch is completed only when the fielder has complete control over both the ball and their movement. Starc, the MCC said, was still sliding when the ball made contact with the ground — and therefore not …

RCB talisman Virat Kohli could be seen having some animated conversations with the fourth umpire in the minutes after a rather sensational catch by GT all-rounder Jason Holder resulted in Royal Challengers’ captain Rajat Patidar being dismissed on 19 off 15 balls. The incident happened in the eighth over of the RCB innings. Arshad Khan’s fourth ball of the over was dug into the track on middle and leg stump, Patidar tried to meet it with a pull shot but the ball flew up off a top edge of his bat. Holder was stationed at deep square leg, he sprinted to his right while fast bowler Kagiso Rabada was also running to the same spot from short fine leg. Holder dove to his right and took the ball. The former West Indies captain then came down in a way that …

RR manager Romi Bhinder fined Rs 1 lakh, warned by BCCI for using mobile phone in dugout

4 min readMumbaiApr 17, 2026 04:23 PM IST Rajasthan Royals manager Romi Bhinder has been cleared by BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) with a warning and a fine of Rs 1 lakh. The board had asked its ACSU wing to probe the matter, and the security wing didn’t find any serious issue. “The ACSU wing probed it and found nothing apart from a violation of PMOA (Players match official area). Bhinder admitted his mistake, and as it was his first offence, he was fined one lakh rupees with a warning. The ACSU didn’t probe Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as the phone was used by Bhinder, and he was just seated next to him,” a source in the BCCI told The Indian Express. The Indian cricket board had decided to investigate the matter after footage emerged of Bhinder using a mobile phone in the dugout during their IPL match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru last Friday. The images show Bhinder using his device while seated next to 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. IPL chairman Arun Dhumal had …

Cheteshwar Pujara surprised with Stephen Fleming’s comments on Chepauk, says CSK always made pitches according to their strengths | Ipl News

With Chennai Super Kings (CSK) coach Stephen Fleming saying that there’s no ‘home advantage’ for the Chennai Super Kings while playing in Chepauk after their 50-run loss to Royal challengers Bengaluru on Friday, veteran batter Cheteshwar Pujara, who spent one year at the franchise in 2021, said he found Fleming’s comments surprising. “… at CSK, you can’t complain. It’s one franchise where they’ve been preparing pitches according to their strengths. If he’s (Fleming) saying that [there is no home advantage, they don’t have a say, then I’m quite surprised,” Pujara told ESPNCricinfo as per PTI. “If you speak about MI, CSK, KKR – I don’t think that’s the case [them not getting pitches they ask for]. Any other franchise, I can still understand. Those (three) franchises make sure they get what they want. Their strength has been when they play at home,” he added. When drunk Andrew Symonds tied Yuzvendra Chahal, taped his mouth and forgot about him in room

Yuzvendra Chahal has endured some rough days in his early phase in the Indian Premier League, especially when he was teammates with the likes of Andrew Symonds and James Franklin at the Mumbai Indians. A few years back, Chahal had opened up about how he was physically harassed by more established teammates for their own entertainment. Chahal was a youngster hoping to make it big back in those days when the first incident happened in 2011. Chahal opened up on a podcast by his previous team Royal Challengers Bengaluru about how Symonds and Franklin had tied him up, put tape on his mouth and left him in a room overnight. ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW VIDEO “This was in 2011 after wining Champions League in a Chennai hotel. He [Andrew Symonds] had drunk a lot of ‘fruit juice’,” Chahal had said on the podcast. “I was with him, only. James Franklin and Symonds tied my hands and legs, and said ‘now you have to open’. They were in so much masti that they taped my mouth and …

‘MS Dhoni has not and will not speak a word’: IPL team owner puts faith in MSD to keep 7-year-old controversy a secret

‘MS Dhoni has not and will not speak a word’: IPL team owner puts faith in MSD to keep 7-year-old controversy a secret

MS Dhoni has been with Chennai Super Kings from the very beginning of the IPL, barring the two editions in 2016 and 2016, when the franchise was banned due to betting activities which CSK’s owner Gurunath Meiyappan was involved in during the 2013 edition when the infamous spot-fixing scandal broke out. In those two years, Dhoni switched to Rising Pune Supergiant, one of the two new teams introduced. In its first season, the franchise tanked, finishing second from bottom, before emerging from the ashes to finish runner-up the following year. However, before the start of the IPL in 2017, ahead of the player auction, RP dropped a bomb when they decided to replace Dhoni as captain with Steve Smith. The secret is safe with MS Dhoni, says Sanjiv Goenka(PTI) In the long run, the call made sense as Smith guided RPS to their maiden final, but when it had happened, all hell had broken loose. To replace someone of Dhoni’s calibre, who had won the IPL twice with CSK by then, was a huge move, …

Controversy erupts over third umpire’s decision on Dinesh Karthik’s wicket in RR vs RCB IPL Eliminator | Ipl News

Controversy erupted during the Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru Eliminator match when Dinesh Karthik who was adjudged LBW by the on-field umpire got a reprieve from the 3rd umpire. Karthik, batting on 0, was hit on the pads which looked to be fairly plumb and the on-field umpire gave it as out. Karthik immediately went for a review and the third umpire Anil Chaudhary found a spike on the UltraEdge even though it came before the ball hit the pad and told the on-field official to reverse the decision. However, after closer inspection, it looked as if the spike on the UltraEdge was due to the bat hitting the pad with even the commentators baffled by the situation. Ravi Shastri even went as far as calling it a shocker of a decision. Star Sports responds to Rohit Sharma’s ‘breach of privacy’ accusation, denies leaking audio of conversations | Ipl News

IPL broadcaster Star Sports issued a statement on Monday in response to India captain and Mumbai Indians batter Rohit Sharma’s accusation of a privacy breach during the tournament. Ahead of Mumbai’s final league stage match at the Wankhede Stadium last week, a short clip that went viral on social media had Rohit requesting a cameraperson not to record his audio. “Bhai audio band karo haan? Ek audio ne mera waat laga diya (Please switch off the audio, one audio recording has ruined me),” Rohit had said pleading with the cameraperson with folded hands. The 37-year-old’s comments were following another audio leak during a match in Kolkata where a personal conversation with Kolkata Knight Riders assistant coach Abhishek Nayar briefly made its way through to social media. The clip was first aired by KKR’s social media handle. But after realising that Rohit was possibly speaking about personal stuff that he wouldn’t want to be made public, the video was hastily deleted. On Sunday, Rohit launched a scathing attack against Star Sports on social media in a …

Rohit Sharma blasts Star Sports for breach of privacy; slams broadcaster for focus on ‘views and engagement’ | Ipl News

Rohit Sharma has lashed out at broadcasters for airing his conversations for “views and engagement” despite him requesting not to. A recent clip of the Indiam cricket team captain Rohit Sharma having a chat at the Eden Gardens with his Mumbai mate Abhishek Nayar was first aired by a franchise, which then hastily deleted it. But by then, the damage was done. Many social media handles had picked up the audio and had aired the clip themselves.  After this, Rohit Sharma was seen in another clip where he was chatting with his friends in the stands. The clip showed Rohit Sharma telling the cameraperson to record him on mute.  “The lives of cricketers have become so intrusive that cameras are now recording every step and conversation we are having in privacy with our friends and colleagues, at training or on match days,” Rohit Sharma said in a tweet on Sunday after Mumbai Indians had ended its IPL 2024 campaign.  “Despite asking Star Sports to not record my conversation, it was and was also then played on …
