From young Digvesh Rathi to veteran Ishant Sharma, list of players to be fined this season

The 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is off to a fiery start already with the passion spilling over on the field. While players and teams are off chasing records in IPL 2025, there have been some notable infringements as well in IPL 2025: this includes players getting fined because of their behaviour and captains getting hit with penalties because of the team’s slow-over rates. Here’s a list of the penalties imposed in IPL 2025 so far: For slow over rates: According to clause 12.6, a team must complete 14.11 overs an hour. In uninterrupted matches, “the 20th over should finish within 90 minutes (being 85 minutes of playing time plus 5 minutes of time-out) of the start of the innings.” A failure to ensure this leads to fines on IPL skippers. ‘You’re trying to, you know, show off. We know what Virat Kohli did….’: Sunil Gavaskar on notebook celebration of LSG bowler Digvesh Rathi | Ipl News

While Lucknow Super Giants spinner Digvesh Rathi was fined 25 percent of his match fee and one demerit point by BCCI for the notebook celebration after removing Punjab Kings opener Priyansh Arya during the IPL match at Lucknow last evening, former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar has criticised the young star about his act. Rathi’s notebook celebration, once made famous by West Indies bowler Kesrick Williams after taking Virat Kohli’s wicket in 2017, saw Gavaskar terming the celebration as a ‘show off’ and even talking about Virat Kohli’s response to Williams later in the series. “I can understand the celebration if the wicket comes after the batsman hit a boundary or a six in the previous ball. As a bowler, you’ve got six deliveries. So if you got five dot balls and get a wicket of the sixth, then you do something like that, it’s not understandable. But all these gestures mean that you don’t expect to get a wicket. And now that you’ve got a wicket, you’re trying to, you know, show off. We know …

Rajasthan Royals stand-in skipper Riyan Parag was fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over rate in his team’s 6-run win over the Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. “As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Parag was fined INR 12 lakhs,” IPL said in a release. In the match, Rajasthan Royals had posted 182/9 with the help of Nitish Rana’s 81 runs and then restricted CSK to 176/6 thanks to Wanindu Hasaranga’s 4 wickets. This was Rajasthan’s first win of the season after losing back to back matches against Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad. This is not the first time a captain has been fined for slow over rate this season with Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya also handed a Rs 12 lakh fine for slow over-rate offence during his team’s 36-run defeat against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
