The Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday issued orders framing charges against senior IPS officer and former Crime Investigation Department (CID) chief PV Sunil Kumar for allegedly making repeated foreign visits without prior permission during the previous YSR Congress Party regime, people familiar with the matter said on Friday. He had already been suspended on March 3 in this case. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai police has recently summoned IPS officer Rashmi Karandikar to question her in connection with two cases filed against her husband Purushottam Chavan for alleged frauds to the tune of Rs 32 crore. A senior EOW officer told The Indian Express on Thursday that though Karandikar, a Maharashtra cadre IPS officer, was summoned to its office, she did not turn up, and hence they are planning to issue a second summons to her. Retired IPS officer Acharya Kishore Kunal died of cardiac arrest in Patna on Sunday, his family said. Acharya Kishore Kunal was the chief of the Bihar State Board of Religious Trust (BSBRT). An IPS officer of the 1972 batch, he was the chief of the Bihar State Board of Religious Trust (BSBRT) and founder secretary of Patna’s Mahavir Mandir Trust, which runs several hospitals in the state. Kunal, 74, suffered cardiac arrest in the early hours and was immediately taken to a hospital where he passed away around 8 am, his family said. His son Saayan Kunal and daughter-in-law Shambhavi Chaudhary, LJP (Ram Vilas) MP from Samastipur, were present at the hospital where he breathed last. Later, his body was taken to his residence at Gusain Tola in Patna where people gathered in large numbers to pay their last respects to the former police officer. Harsh Bardhan was a resident of Madhya Pradesh Bengaluru: A young IPS officer in Karnataka, who had recently finished his training, died in an accident on his way to take up his first posting in Hassan district on Sunday. Harsh Bardhan, 26, was a resident of Madhya Pradesh and a 2023-batch IPS officer of the Karnataka cadre. The accident took place when the tyre of the police vehicle he was travelling in allegedly burst and the driver lost control. The vehicle reportedly hit a house and a tree on the roadside. Mr Bardhan sustained severe head injuries and died in the hospital during treatment, while the driver suffered minor injuries. Visuals from the spot showed heavily mangled remains of the police vehicle.
