Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) chairman Rahul Singh and Secretary Himanshu Gupta were on Tuesday shunted out of the national educational board in the wake of alleged irregularities in the digital evaluation system for the Std XII examination process, officials said. The CBSE engulfed into a controversy after some students alleged that the scanned copies of their answer sheets uploaded by the board did not match their handwriting, raising concerns over possible answer-sheet mismatch in the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. The chairman and secretary of CBSE have been transferred by the government, an official said. The committee on education, women, children, youth and sports, chaired by Congress MP Digvijaya Singh, met to discuss the “use of On-Screen-Marking (OSM) in Grade 12 CBSE exams and issues faced by students”. The inspections, carried out on Wednesday, April 15, covered centres in Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Mancherial, Khammam, Mahabubnagar, Sangareddy, Nizamabad, Warangal and Suryapet. HYDERABAD Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday announced in the Assembly institution of a CB-CID inquiry into all mining-related irregularities from June 2, 2014 to till date – March 28, 2026. The inquiry was ordered following a demand from Deputy Floor Leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) T. Harish Rao for appointing a House Committee into the mining irregularities by Raghava Constructions, stating that it belonged to Minister for Revenue and Housing Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy. The government – Minister for Mines and Geology G. Vivek and Minister for Industries and Legislative Affairs D. Sridhar Babu – turned down the BRS demand and alleged that it was during the BRS rule from 2014 to 23 large scale irregularities had taken place in mining, particularly sand and granite. They offered to institute an inquiry into the mining irregularities from 2014 to till date.
