IPL | Kartik Tyagi needs to evolve his own action and not copy other bowlers: Dale Steyn | Cricket News

3 min readMar 30, 2026 08:28 PM IST Kartik Tyagi grew up in Dhanaura, Hapur of Uttar Pradesh, idolising Brett Lee. As the years rolled on, the 25-year-old 6-foot-3 kept getting compared to whoever was the pacer in vogue. Tyagi once told Red Bull, “I have been watching Brett Lee’s bowling from when I was very young and his run-up style is unique. So like him, I thought it is important to have a really fast run-up. And because of that fast run-up style, people have compared me with Brett Lee and Ishant Sharma. And I feel great to be compared with some of the best fast bowlers in the world.” A more nuanced and pragmatic mould for the Kolkata Knight Riders pacer who moved east from Rajasthan Royals, seemed to be Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Starc. Not because his action riffed off them naturally, but the deconstructed elements fit. Now, Dale Steyn is urging the promising pacer to evolve a style of his own, because fast bowling actions can’t be 3D printed into real …

Ishant Sharma Blasts Ashutosh Sharma Mid-Match During GT vs DC IPL 2025 Game, Reason Is This

Ishant Sharma had a heated argument with Delhi Capitals’s Ashutosh Sharma during an IPL 2025 match in Ahmedabad on Saturday. The altercation happened in the 19th over of DC innings. Gujarat Titans pacer Ishant delivered a bouncer to Ashutosh, which went to wicketkeeper Jos Buttler. The GT players thought that the ball had touched Ashutosh’s gloves. The on-field umpire was not convinced. Ashutosh immediately showed that the ball had touched his shoulders.  Ishant was not convinced and gave Ashutosh a piece of his mind. Shubman Gill intervened and then Ishant went and talked to the umpires. He looked unhappy even after the innings ended.  Battle b/w ishant sharma vs ashutosh Sharma pic.twitter.com/EMd12Z2o7V — Daigo18 (@daigo2637391027) April 19, 2025 Talking about the match, Jos Buttler’s unbeaten 97 guided Gujarat Titans over the line and secured a seven-wicket victory over the Delhi Capitals in Match 35 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday. The specialised bowling academy which helped 36-year-old Ishant Sharma hit 140-plus kph again | Cricket News

The Nivaan Sports Club in Gurgaon’s Sector 66 does not beam modernity like the swanky buildings in the background. But unlike any other cricket training nets, these premises are reserved for fast bowlers. Located at this club is PaceLab, the brainchild of former English First-Class cricketer Steffan Jones. This is where India veteran Ishant Sharma learnt to bowl quicker again at 36. Despite patchy form, Ishant was clocking mid-140ks for the Gujarat Titans this IPL, with an improved sprint to the crease in one motion. There are no batters or targets to aim at in the two modest nets. One holds a goalpost-like crossed mesh at the centre, and the other bears a grassy strip. Story continues below this ad Ishant’s rekindling has spread the word through social media now that bowlers ranging from the breadth of Tamil Nadu to Arunachal Pradesh have begun to check in to upgrade exponentially. Coach Ayush Mehendiratta’s discussions with young bowlers are on acceleration, impulse stride, ball velocity, and resistance. A former Haryana district cricketer, Mehendiratta owes everything to …

“People Have Mistaken…”: India Pacer’s Mammoth Verdict On Virat Kohli

Indian cricket team star batter Virat Kohli has been a bit of a divisive figure off late with some ex-cricketers claiming that he has changed a lot over time. However, fast bowler Ishant Sharma, who was Kohli’s long-time teammate, rubbished any such claims and said that they still enjoy the same relationship. The duo have been close friends since their youth and in a recent interview with MyKhel, Ishant said that the responsibility of being the captain may have brought some minor changes but he added that people are mistaken when they believe that fame and time has changed the star batter. “I don’t know whoever said that he [Kohli] has changed. But with me, the kind of relationship we share, he never changed for me. We’ve been playing together since U-17, so, you know, we are 36 now, I think he’ll be 36 soon. So, we’ve been playing together for, I don’t know, for even, you know, more than 10 years, 15 years. So, he hasn’t changed for me. I can pick …

Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant named in Delhi’s 84-member Ranji Trophy probable squad, no place for Ishant Sharma | Cricket News

Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant have been included in the 84-member Delhi Ranji Trophy probable list, while senior pacer Ishant Sharma has opted out from the red-ball competition. Kohli last played in the Ranji Trophy for Delhi in 2012, while Pant featured once in 2019. “This is a standard procedure. Virat is a registered player for Delhi and it is not the first time his name has been included in the probable list. Same goes for Rishabh,” chief selector Gursharan Singh told The Indian Express. It is highly unlikely that Kohli and Pant will be available for any of Delhi’s Ranji Trophy matches. Delhi will open their campaign against Chhattisgarh on October 11 in Raipur. Curtains for Ishant Meanwhile, Ishant, who played a couple of games in the last Ranji season has opted out from the red-ball tournament. Ishant Sharma has 311 wickets from 105 Tests. File photo of Ishant Sharma.© AFP Following the Delhi Capitals’ (DC) final league game of the IPL 2024, which they won by 19 runs against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), India pacer Ishant Sharma revealed the special bond with DC head coach Ricky Ponting, saying the Australian is like his elder brother. Ishant was the star for Delhi on Tuesday night where anything less than a loss would have confirmed their elimination from playoff contention. He was adjudged the player of the match for his bowling figures of 3/34 in four overs which included three crucial scalps of Quinton de Kock, KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda, giving his side an excellent start while defending 209 target. “We’re not coach and player anymore, he’s a kind of elder brother to me. He’s always there whenever I need him, I can call him anytime.I think it’s very great to have him as a coach. If you have someone like him who really pushes you to keep on trying new things and don’t be afraid if …

IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals beat Lucknow Super Giants, but neither team likely to advance | Ipl News

SYNOPSIS: Abhishek Porel, Tristan Stubbs and Ishant Sharma overcome the assault from Nicholas Pooran and Arshad Khan as Delhi end league engagements with a win After the auction where Delhi Capitals (DC) spent a whopping Rs 7.2 crore on Kumar Kushagra, back in Kolkata, Abishek Porel, watching the action with his cousin Ishan Porel, said: “Puro season bench e boshte hobe (Will have to sit on the bench the entire season).” Abishek’s concern was justified because with Rishabh Pant back, Delhi had five wicketkeeper-batsmen in their squad. But at the pre-season camp in Kolkata, Sourav Ganguly and Pravin Amre told the youngster that he would be playing all the games and Porel repaid the trust with some impactful knocks. The youngster totalled 327 runs with a strike rate of 158.51. On Tuesday evening, the left-hander scored his second IPL fifty in just 21 balls. Few of the shots he played through the covers would make even Ganguly proud. He whipped, caressed, swivelled, pulled and drove the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bowlers with authority. Delhi had …
