Punjabi film Ishqan De Lekhe has emerged as a HIT, driven by a sustained box office trend. The Gurnaam Bhullar starrer saw its second week collections surpass the first, and now it continues to collect in its third week, in the face of box office juggernaut Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The third week has brought in over Rs. 1.50 crore nett approx in six days; the full week will be around Rs. 1.75 crore. The third week drop will be around 70 per cent, which may seem steep, but consider this: most of the other holdover films are out of cinemas. The total box office collections in India stand at Rs. 11.75 crore nett approx and will be around Rs. 12 crore nett at the end of this week. Punjabi film Ishqan De Lekhe is on course to emerge as a HIT, with the film recording a very good second weekend at the Indian box office. The Gurnam Bhullar headlined romantic drama grossed Rs. 4 crore (Rs. 3.35 crore nett) approx in its second weekend, up by around 85 per cent from its opening weekend. That takes its 10-day running total to Rs. 9 crore (Rs. 7.60 crore nett) approx.  The film has also done well overseas, with USD 525K (Rs. 4.85 crore) approx, giving it a worldwide box office gross of just under Rs. 15 crore. Having said that, it is one of the rare Punjabi films to do better domestically than overseas, as lately it is the overseas box office that is driving the Punjabi films, with domestic taking the back seat. Punjabi film Ishqan De Lekhe is finding some good fortune at the box office. The Gurnam Bhullar led romantic drama grossed Rs. 7.50 crore approx in its first week. Of this, Rs. 4.25 crore (Rs. 3.60 crore nett) came from the domestic market of India, while another Rs. 3.25 crore (USD 350K) came from overseas. The numbers may appear modest, and they are, but what makes them count is the trend they have come up with. The film started low, with an opening day of just over Rs. 40 lakh in India and Rs. 75 lakh worldwide. It made good gains over the weekend; it was on weekdays when it really showed up with steady holds. The last day of the week, i.e. Thursday in India, was around Rs. 60 lakh, 50 per cent higher than its opening day.
