Thirty-nine pilgrims undertaking the annual Amarnath Yatra were injured after a tourist bus skidded off the road at Hariganiwan in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday. The bus was carrying devotees who were returning after offering prayers at the Amarnath cave shrine when the accident occurred. Authorities said all the injured pilgrims were rescued and shifted for medical treatment. Rescue operation launched immediately Personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the Jammu and Kashmir Police rushed to the accident site and carried out rescue operations. All 39 injured passengers were evacuated from the bus and taken for treatment. New Delhi, A contingent of mountaineers from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police has scaled Mount Makalu, the world’s fifth tallest peak located in Nepal, making it a first among the central armed police forces in the India. The Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has successfully scaled Mt. Makalu — the world’s fifth highest peak, at an altitude of 8,485 metres from the sea level, the China-border guarding force said on Friday. The ascent to the Himalayan peak in Nepal was made on April 19, it said. The International Mountaineering Expedition to Mt. Makalu and Mt. Annapurna (8,091 m) was flagged off from Delhi on March 21. “It was a historic twin summit attempt — the first of its kind in ITBP history. Both peaks were being attempted for the first time by the force, adding to the challenge and legacy of this mission. Both peaks are in Nepal,” ITBP said in a statement.
