FIR Registered Against Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda Over Jaat’s Church Scene
Earlier this week, the Christian Community objected to a church scene in Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda’s film Jaat. Now, an FIR has been registered against the actors for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. A complaint has been lodged with the Jalandhar police. Besides Deol and Hooda, the FIR has also been registered against Viineet Kumar Singh, the film’s director, Gopichand Malineni and the producers under Section 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The scene in question featured Hooda, the antagonist of the story, engaging in violence inside a church. His character was seen standing under a crucifix with people praying in the background. The scene also showed him intimidating the people in the church, which angered the Christian community. The complainant alleged that the scene was done deliberately to outrage religious feelings. NDTV quoted the complainant as saying, “The director, writer and producer deliberately released this film during the holy month of Good Friday and Easter so that the Christians get angry and riots break out in the entire country and unrest is spread.” …
