The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday opposed a plea filed by actress Jacqueline Fernandez to turn approver in the Rs 200 crore money laundering case that is being probed by them. Notably, last month, Fernandez moved to court with an application to become an approver in the case, which has conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar as the main accused. ED opposes Jacqueliene Fernandez’s plea The ED had opposed Fernandez’s plea to turn approver, while arguing that her role in the case is not just that of a minor participant but of a significant beneficiary of the proceeds of crime. Delhi High Court on Wednesday heard part arguments on behalf of Bollywood actress Jacqueliene Fernandez. She has challenged the charge sheet filed against her in Rs. 200 crores money laundering case. It was submitted that she was not involved in the offense of money laundering. She was unaware that the gifts she received were part of the alleged proceeds of crime. Justice Anish Dayal during the hearing raised a query, “Whether there is a duty upon an adult person to know the source of gift one receives.” The matter is listed on November 26 for further arguments. In the ongoing Rs 200 crore money laundering case involving jailed conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar, Bollywood actor Jacqueliene Fernandez’s legal team has asserted in the Delhi High Court that she was unaware of the illicit origins of the gifts she received, which are allegedly linked to the case. According to ANI, The Delhi High Court recently heard arguments from Jacqueliene Fernandez‘s counsel, who is challenging the charge sheet filed against her. Her lawyers claimed that she was not involved in any money laundering activities and did not know that the gifts she received were connected to the alleged proceeds of crime. During the hearing, Justice Anish Dayal raised a question, asking whether an adult has a responsibility to know the source of the gifts they receive. The case has been scheduled for further hearings on November 26.
