Army officer, 40 personnel booked for ‘assaulting’ cops

Jammu and Kashmir Police has booked several Army personnel, including a commanding officer, for allegedly storming a police station in Kishtwar district, assaulting police personnel, and damaging government property. The incident occurred after a police party intercepted and seized a private vehicle owned by an Army official for alleged traffic violations. The youth, identified as Mohammad Sajid, is originally from Reasi district but had been living in the Bathindi area of Jammu. He has been named as the main suspect in FIR No. 331/2025, registered under Section 113(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Bahu Fort. Police officers said Sajid attempted to flee when he noticed the police team approaching him. He was quickly detained, and a mobile phone was recovered from his possession. The explosion near the Red Fort killed 15 people and left more than a dozen injured after a Hyundai i20 driven by Umar-un-Nabi, a Kashmiri doctor from Al-Falah University in Faridabad, blew up. According to a report in NDTV, the key accused have been identified as Kashmiri doctors Muzammil Shakeel Ganai, Adeel Ahmed Rather, his brother Muzaffar Ahmed Rather, and Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay — all associated with the same university.
