Medical staff working under the National Health Mission (NHM) has launched a 72-hour strike outside the Sub-District Hospital in Gandoh, reported the ANI. The protest was triggered by allegations that the state government had deducted the equivalent of 2.5 days’ salary from their monthly pay. Holding placards and voicing their demands, the healthcare workers expressed anger over what they described as an abrupt and unfair financial deduction. They stated that the 2.5 days’ pay had traditionally been granted as compensation for overtime work. Protesters explained that the additional pay covered duties performed on Sundays, gazetted holidays, and night shifts.“This protest is for the salary of 2.5 days. We used to receive this amount because we worked during holidays and nights,” said one demonstrator. In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s commitment towards strengthening preventive healthcare for girls, the 90-day Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination drive was launched in Jammu and Kashmir`s Bhaderwah on Tuesday. The 90-day Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination drive commenced in Bhaderwah with its formal inauguration at the Sub-District Hospital Bhaderwah. The campaign was inaugurated by ADC Bhaderwah Sunil Kumar Butyal in the presence of Block Medical Officer Bhaderwah Dr Varsha Sharma. During the inaugural session, the first batch of 10 girls aged 14 years received the HPV vaccine. Health officials informed that girls in the age group of 14 to 15 years across Addational District Bhaderwah will benefit from the vaccination campaign aimed at preventing Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection, a leading cause of cervical cancer. DIG Shridhar Patil on Tuesday chaired a security review meeting to ensure a safe and secure environment at the tourist destinations across the Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range in Jammu and Kashmir in view of increasing tourist footfall, officials said. The meeting was aimed to assess and strengthen the overall security framework for ensuring safety of the tourists, they said. Through a post on his official X handle, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said, “The chief minister has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the tragic accidental explosion at Nowgam police station, which claimed precious lives and left several personnel injured.” The materials being sampled were approximately 360 kg of explosive substances, chemicals, and reagents, including ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate, and sulphur. This cache was recovered by J&K Police from the rented residence of Delhi blast arrested accused Dr Muzzamil Ganaie in Faridabad on November 9 and 10.
