Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Ayodhya for the flag hoisting at Ram Janmabhoomi. PM Modi further said that the “wounds and pain” of centuries are healing as a 500-year-old resolve is finally being fulfilled with the formal completion of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. As reported by news agency PTI, PM Modi further made the remarks after ceremonially hoisting a saffron flag atop the Ram temple in Ayodhya, an event marking the official completion of the shrine. File | Photo Credit: ANI The Supreme Court on Friday (April 4, 2025) issued notices on a plea of the mosque committee against the Allahabad High Court consolidating all suits of the Hindu side in relation to the Mathura Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah dispute. The High Court on October 23, last year, rejected an application of the Committee of Management, Trust Shahi Masjid Idgah seeking the recall of its January 11 order which consolidated all suits of the Hindu side in the case. The mosque committee had moved the High Court after the top court on March 19, last year, asked it to first seek the recall of the order consolidating the lawsuits there. On Friday, a Bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justices Sanjay Kumar and K.V. Viswanathan noted the submissions of the mosque committee’s counsel and advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, representing some Hindu litigants, and issued the notices. The counsel for the Hindu side, Hari Shankar Jain, also submitted that the provisions of Places of Worship Act will not apply in the case. The submissions were made during the hearing of a plea challenging the suit seeking “removal” of the Shahi Idgah mosque adjacent to the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple in Mathura. The matter is being heard by Justice Mayank Kumar Jain on the plea moved by the Muslim side regarding the maintainability of the suit. ‘Surya abhishek’ of the idol of Ram Lalla at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya will be held on Ram Navami (April 17) as trials of the optomechanical system installed for the purpose were successful, functionaries of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust said. Daily trials will still be conducted to ensure that sunrays fall at the centre of the idol’s forehead at 12 noon on April 17, it is learnt. “Sunrays will illuminate the face of Ram Lalla for straight four minutes. Teams of scientists from the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee, and another institute are engaged in this work,” a trust official said. “Two mirrors and a lens have been installed on the ground floor of the temple. Sunlight will fall on them from a mirror placed on the third floor.
