Casual get-together leads to Raahul Jatin, Shannon Sanu`s musical collaboration

It was over a casual interaction at the Pandits’ home that Raahul Jatin and Shannon Sanu decided to collaborate on a number. Son and daughter of musicians Jatin Pandit and Kumar Sanu respectively, the young duo’s next, Chand mere, is a romantic offering that they felt they could do justice to.  “Shannon is an easy person to work with. This is a song with a traditional Bollywood vibe. I came up with the hook, and thought it would be a winner. Thereafter, we worked around it and allowed the lyrics to decide how the song should turn out. This is how most of my songs are made,” says Raahul, adding that though he pens a few of his numbers, he wouldn’t choose to refer to himself as a songwriter, just yet.  Coming from a family of legacy, he admits, has its advantages. “Things become more convenient. [Those without knowledge] may not understand how a song can evolve. People may create the first edition and think that [it] could be the final product. They may not …

In his latest project, Gulmohar, Jatin Goswami has received many accolades for his sensitive portrayal of a loyal worker in the Batra household who falls for the family cook (Santhy). For most of his filmography, the actor is often seen as an antagonist to the main character, so it was a welcome change to see him step into a different space. He said, “I was pretty surprised because the kind of cinema that he casts [for] is very different from the general work that I have done till now. It was a pleasant surprise for me when he told me he’s been scouting for me since 2016 -2017. Raahul Jatin creates romantic song inspired by Priyanka, Ankit`s relationship

Ironic as it may be, in the most abusive reality show in Indian television, an Indian singer found sufficient fodder for the making of a romantic track. So moving was Priyanka Chahar Choudhary and Ankit Gupta’s journey on Bigg Boss that Raahul Jatin found himself drawn to their relationship, and was egged on to create Tere liye, a celebration of their bond. “I watch the show as much as I can. There is something about them, and the way in which they interact with each other, that is pure. We rarely see couples or friends who share such a genuine emotion of love for each other. I would want to have something like that in my life,” says the singer, son of composer Jatin Pandit. Even though Raahul hasn’t interacted with the duo in the past, he says he found it rather easy to create this piece. “While a musician may usually not like certain aspects of his song, and may want a thing or two changed, with this number, the creative process happened naturally. …

This was what I have been working for all these 14 years after giving years to theatre. Raahul Jatin: Nepotism is a misconception

Young musician and composer Raahul Jatin feels that unlike the popular notion, nepotism can’t get you work. Son of known composer Jatin Pandit, the youngster says, “It’s a misconception and it should be done away with. Maybe it works for some actors but not for all. I have seen many making big debuts, all thanks to their families, but fading out just as soon. Music industry is a very different industry and it functions on a very diverse tangent. It’s not easy to make a point and find a place here unless you have it in you.” Jatin has been into independent music for quite some time now. “If my father has worked in top iconic films, it doesn’t mean I too will get to follow a similar pattern. Also, the big question is will I be able to, as those were different times. Music was different and the process was totally Bollywood centric. Today things have transformed and independent music has been accepted as a separate space. It’s like a boon for the young, …
