The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) has written to Odisha chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi to halt the implementation of a recent decision to remove thousands of contractual employees across government sectors which had outsourced labour. Referring to the retrenchment of 1500 workers, the BMS has cautioned that it will have severe consequences on the crucial public utility and industrial sectors. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday asked the technical institutions, such as ITIs and polytechnics, in UP to understand the demands of the industry and design courses accordingly, saying the state received investment proposals worth Rs 40 lakh crore during last year’s Global Investors Summit, “which will give employment to 1.10 crore youth”. Stating that youth should be “guaranteed both jobs and security”, the chief minister said, “It is essential to connect the youth with training for their empowerment.
