The protesters also said that they would burn effigies of the Chief Minister and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi across all 24 districts of the State on Sunday (August 16, 2026), alleging that the ruling JMM-Congress alliance “failed to take concrete action” on their demands. Jharkhand protest: Students demand CM Hemant Soren’s resignation, ask Congress to ‘withdraw support’

Students protesting against alleged job and exam irregularities have demanded Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren‘s resignation, accusing Congress and JMM of playing politics. Amid protests and growing concerns among job aspirants over recruitment examinations, Soren said paper leaks have become a national problem. (CMO/X) According to a report by news agency PTI, the students have also demanded that Congress withdraw support from the JMM-led coalition if the Jharkhand CM does not listen to them. The protesters announced on Saturday that they will burn effigies of Soren and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on August 16.
