The Supreme Court on Friday refused to entertain a public interest litigation challenging the Madras high court collegium’s November 2025 recommendations for elevation of judicial officers, which were made after justice J Nisha Banu was excluded from the collegium following her transfer to the Kerala high court, even though she had not yet assumed charge at her new posting. Such issues are required to be considered by the competent authority on the administrative side. We thus do not deem it proper to entertain this petition,” the bench said in its order, disposing of the plea.
