Kagiso Rabada ‘spiritually possessed’, ‘thunderbolts’ coming out of his hand in IPL 2026: Ashwin’s high praise

The Indian Premier League has historically been seen as a platform for many seasoned campaigners to announce their resurgence at the top level. South African pacer Kagiso Rabada looks to be one of them, having announced his comeback with red-hot form in the IPL 2026 season ahead of a long international calendar and the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. His resurgence follows a challenging T20 World Cup 2026 campaign for his national side, where he took just 4 wickets in 6 matches at a modest average of roughly 8. Gujarat Titans’ Kagiso Rabada celebrates the wicket. (ANI Picture Service) Rabada, who made his IPL debut in 2017, was acquired by the Gujarat Titans for INR 10.75 crore ahead of the 2025 season, but managed just 2 wickets in 4 appearances in his debut season for GT, missing a month of action after testing positive for a prohibited recreational drug in April 2025. However, he has now repaid the faith shown by GT’s management in his potential, …

Kagiso Rabada on Virat Kohli, why Warner was his most dangerous batting opponent — and the T20 challenge every fast bowler now faces

2 min readMar 21, 2026 09:07 AM IST Kagiso Rabada has lifted the lid on what made Virat Kohli the relentless Test batter he ever bowled at, while also sounding the alarm for fast bowlers in the modern T20 era. Speaking on the Fast Bowling Cartel podcast, the South African spearhead rated Kohli’s sheer consistency under pressure. “He was probably the most conventional — he wouldn’t necessarily hurt you, but you’d look up at the scoreboard and he’d made an impact. When you got him out, you’d really earned his wicket.” Rabada grouped Kohli alongside Steve Smith, Joe Root, and Kane Williamson as the four batters who had been “the most consistent for the longest time” during his international career. However it was David Warner who he reserved a special mention for as the most dangerous. “If you weren’t on, he could hurt you. He scored in funny areas. You had to be really on it to earn his wicket.” Out of T20, Rabada warned, painting a stark picture of what modern white-ball cricket demands …

Kagiso Rabada yet to take flight at T20 World Cup but finding happiness in South Africa’s success | Cricket News

3 min readFeb 27, 2026 04:37 PM IST South Africa’s bowling attack has been as much a strength for them thus far in the 2026 T20 World Cup as their power-packed batting lineup. Peculiarly, though, Kagiso Rabada, the leader of their bowling department and widely considered among the best pacers of his generation, hasn’t exactly hit his stride thus far in the tournament. The 30-year-old isn’t really too worried about it though, and is finding happiness in the fact that the Proteas are doing well and particularly that fellow pacer Lungi Ngidi has hit the races. “That’s just the game of cricket,” Rabada said according to Reuters when reminded that four catches have gone down off his bowling in the tournament. “How many times does it actually go for you, and how many times does it not? More often than not it goes for you. Unfortunately, now it hasn’t been, but the most important thing is that we’ve been winning.” Rabada has taken just four wickets in six games thus far in the tournament. Two …

Tristan Stubbs, Ryan Rickelton dropped as South Africa make big calls in T20 World Cup squad; Kagiso Rabada returns

South Africa enter the 2026 T20 World Cup as runners-up from the previous edition, and with intentions of going one better and getting their hands on a first ICC white-ball trophy. Cricket South Africa announced the squad for the Proteas in the tournament beginning next month, where the team will have to fight through a tough group including New Zealand and Afghanistan. Aiden Markram and David Miller will be key members of South Africa’s squad in India and Sri Lanka.(AFP) Aiden Markram has been named captain for the Proteas, continuing his duties as leader for a team which is much-changed compared to the one that fell inches short of the line in Barbados in 2024. Heinrich Klaasen’s retirement means he is not in the picture, and nor are Tristan Stubbs or Ryan Rickelton, surprise absences in the midst of some poor form. Added to the squad instead are first-time players at the World Cup for the Proteas, headlined by Dewald Brevis and Corbin Bosch. Also in these ranks are Donovan Ferreira, George Linde, and Kwena …

SA20 is a fantastic opportunity to get used to flow of T20s ahead of WC: Kagiso Rabada | Cricket News

Premier South African pacer Kagiso Rabada said the upcoming SA20 gives him a wonderful opportunity to get some valuable game time ahead of next year’s T20 World Cup. Rabada missed the action during SA’s recent tour to India because of a rib injury, but the MI Cape Town player now wants to sharpen his skills in the fourth edition of SA20. “Yeah, it’s a fantastic opportunity to get games under your belt and get used to the flow of T20 cricket. We haven’t really played much T20 cricket this year. So yeah, it’s going to be a great tournament,” Rabada answered a PTI query during the JioStar Press Room ahead of SA20 Season 4, starting on Friday. Rabada thought that playing in different conditions across South Africa during the league will pose a healthy challenge for players ahead of the ICC showpiece. “I think the teams this season have balanced out really well. In the previous three seasons, the management and the people who are responsible for picking the teams have figured out what it …

Cricket South Africa (CSA) said that Rabada will continue “the initial phase of his four-week rehabilitation program” with the medical team to recover from the injury. “The injury has been closely monitored by the Proteas medical team, and due to ongoing discomfort in the affected area, Rabada has been withdrawn from the remainder of the tour. Kagiso Rabada Ruled Out of 2nd Test Against India

The South Africa captain, Temba Bavuma, has confirmed that pacer Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of the 2nd test against India. The fast bowler who missed the first test in Kolkata due to a rib injury sustained during a training session has not recovered sufficiently to take the field for the final test. Bavuma said that the medical team was unwilling to risk Rabada’s fitness, especially with his recovery still incomplete. “Kagiso has been ruled out of the second Test,” said Temba Bavuma. His absence will force the visitors into another reshuffle, having already managed to secure a 30-run win in the first test of the South Africa tour of India 2025. With Simon Harmer, who picked an eight-wicket haul and Keshav Maharaj leading the spin attack, Marco Jansen, Wiaan Mulder and Corbin Bosch will be chipping in with fast bowling departments. Kagiso Rabada (image: X) “We will have another look in the morning and decide on Kagiso’s replacement,” Bavuma said when asked about the replacement for Kagiso Rabada.
