KCR said Mahabubnagar was the “most discriminated” district in the erstwhile state, despite being entitled to 174 TMC of Krishna basin water. A. Revanth Reddy | Photo Credit: File photo Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy described Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s address at the party public meeting as a combination of frustration and deception, trying to hoodwink people of Telangana about the party’s ten-year ‘loot’ of the newly formed State. After pushing Telangana into a deep debt, Mr. Rao is trying to blame the Congress now, said Mr. Reddy while speaking to reporters in Hyderabad on Monday. He said Mr. Rao’s address lacked clarity and he showed his frustration over loss of power. “Mr. Rao lost his heart the day I became the Chief Minister,” he said, indicating that the former Chief Minister is yet to digest the reality. His only intention now is to blame Congress for all the ills he (Mr. Rao) created during the last 10 years. In response Mr. Rao’s claim that the government is unable to handle the ‘kids’ (referring to K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao) in the Assembly, Mr. Reddy asked why is he sending the …

Harish Rao’s claim that former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao spoke of the ‘language of agriculture’ while the present Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was speaking the ‘language of death’. Mr. Reddy said the ‘language of agriculture’ reflected when the ₹1 lakh crore Kaleshwaram project collapsed within three years, leading to destruction, and the State is paying for KCR’s language. He objected to Mr. Revanth Reddy’s language being termed as ‘language of death’ implying the latter’s policies are detrimental. Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy said it was KCR who introduced abusive language to Telangana politics and continued it for 10 years. If at all someone spoke the ‘language of death’, it was KCR, he alleged. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) that has appeared to struggle since its drubbing in the 2023 Assembly polls and last year’s Lok Sabha elections received a shot in the arm this week after its chief K Chandrashekar Rao, in a rare public appearance, addressed party leaders at the BRS executive meeting in Hyderabad. Rao, popularly known as KCR, had been away from the public eye since his party’s defeats and had even been giving Assembly proceedings a miss. His “reappearance” comes at a time when the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government is facing flak over the alleged undercounting of Backward Classes in the caste survey. KCR’s announcement of holding statewide agitations throughout the year to mark the silver jubilee of his party (which came into existence as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in 2001) to “safeguard the rights of the people of the state” has enthused his party colleagues.
