Kerala will make its major tourist destinations more film-shooting friendly and strengthen legal action against movie piracy, State Minister for Cinema, Tourism, and Cultural Affairs P C Vishnunath said here on Tuesday. Thiruvananthapuram, A light-and-sound show, featuring Kerala’s history with its focus on saint-social reformer Sree Narayana Guru’s teachings, will be launched in Chilakoor Tunnel near Varkala on February 16. India’s first light-and-sound show in tunnel to be launched in Kerala’s Chilakoor on Feb 16 It will be the country’s first visual treat for visitors to be beamed inside a tunnel, powered by video mapping technology, according to an official statement on Monday. Chilakoor Tunnel, renovated as part of the first phase of Akkulam-Chettuva Waterway project, will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The 280-km Akkulam-Chettuva Waterway is part of the 616-km Kovalam-Bekal waterway project, a milestone in Kerala’s inland waterways development, scaling up the state’s sanding as a multi-modal logistic hub and boosting the state’s water-based tourism potential, it said. The tunnel renovation work has been carried out by Kerala Waterways Infrastructure Limited , a joint venture of the state government and the Cochin International Airport Limited . Wayanad to host social media influencers for tourism revival

In a bid to rejuvenate tourism in Wayanad following the devastating landslides at Chooralmala, over two dozen social media influencers will gather in the district on September 17 (Tuesday). The initiative marks a crucial phase in Kerala Tourism’s promotional campaign titled ‘My Kerala, Beautiful As Ever’, designed to attract holidaymakers from around the globe. Tourism and Public Works Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas will inaugurate the campaign by unveiling the official video and engaging in discussions with the influencers at Mananthavady at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Approximately 30 influential content creators, recognised for their substantial online following, will explore Wayanad’s scenic spots to document their experiences, showcasing the region’s enduring beauty amid the adversity. Entries pour in for Kerala Tourism’s Souvenir Challenge

A year after the concept was floated, Kerala Tourism has reinvigorated its Souvenir Challenge, which aims at strengthening its Souvenir Network Project, by creating an inventory of cute and environment friendly artefacts for tourists to take home from Kerala. The Responsible Tourism (RT) Mission of Kerala, which is in charge of the network, has invited entries from people across the State to take part in the challenge and develop products that could be marketed across the globe as the State’s pride. “This is the first effort of its kind being made in the State and in this first edition of the souvenir network, we have around 100 people registered from different parts of the State,” said K. Rupesh Kumar, State Coordinator of Responsible Tourism Mission. The State has announced cash prize for best of the fifteen selected souvenirs. The first prize is ₹ 1 lakh while ₹ 50,000 and ₹ 25,000 respectively are second and third prizes. Moreover, one artist from each district will get a prize of ₹10,000.
