File | Photo Credit: PTI Trinamool Congress teams visited several areas of West Bengal to take stock of complaints related to post-poll violence and alleged election manipulations. TMC leadership claimed that at least 10 of their workers were “brutally murdered” after the election results.  Three fact-finding teams from Kolkata which included many senior TMC leaders visited different parts of the State and spoke to several party workers.  “They kept abusing us even after we did so much work for them. According to the police, 37-year-old Aleksei Leonov was arrested early on Friday, after the recovery of the body of his suspected live-in partner, Elena Kasthanova (37), was found with her throat slit in north Goa’s Arambol. The discloser made by the accused during interrogation prompted authorities to widen the scope of the investigation. He also led the police to the body of one Elena Vaneeva (37) in Morjim village. Surendra Koli, accused in the infamous Nithari serial killings, has been released from the Luksar district jail in Greater Noida, a day after the Supreme Court acquitted him in the last pending case linked to the 2006 serial murders that had shocked the nation, officials said on Thursday. Jail superintendent Brijesh Kumar confirmed that Koli walked out of the facility around 7.20 pm on Wednesday. “Surendra Koli was released after the order of the Supreme Court,” Kumar said. The Nithari case came to light in when skeletal remains, skulls and bones were discovered from the backyard and drains near a bungalow (D-5) belonging to businessman Moninder Singh Pandher in Sector 31, Noida. The Supreme Court on Tuesday acquitted Surendra Koli, the only remaining convict in the 2006 Nithari mass killings, and ordered his immediate release if not wanted in any other case, news agency PTI reported. The verdict marks Koli’s acquittal in the 13th and final case linked to the gruesome killings, after being cleared in 12 others. Imphal: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two persons belonging to banned militant groups for their involvement in the brutal killing of a woman and burning and looting of houses by armed militants in Manipur’s Jiribam district in November last year, officials said on Tuesday. NIA sources said that the accused Nongthombam Meiraba, hailing from Bishnupur district and belonging to the proscribed insurgent outfit – United National Liberation Front (UNLF), was involved in the actual shooting of the woman, identified as Zosangkim.
