The police said thirty people have lost their lives in today’s incident, while 60 devotees got injured. “30 people have lost their lives in the Maha Kumbh stampede that took place between 1-2 AM. 25 people have been identified and the identification of the remaining 5 is being done,” the DIG Mahakumbh Nagar said. “Out of these (30 deceased), 25 have been identified while the remaining five are yet to be identified. Some of these are from other states too. Four from Karnataka, one from Assam, one from Gujarat. Some injured devotees have been taken away by their relatives. Injured are undergoing treatment at the local medical college. For the convenience of devotees, Mela administration has issued helpline number 1920,” says Krishna said. Image Source : FILE PHOTO Prime Minister Narendra Modi Mahakumbh stampede: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a Cabinet meeting today at his residence in the national capital following a stampede at the Sangam area of the Mahakumbh early Wednesday as crores of pilgrims turned up to take a holy dip on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya.   During the Union Cabinet meeting, PM Modi inquired Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw about the arrangements made by the Indian Railways for the devotees at Prayagraj. Vaishnaw briefed the Prime Minister on the extensive measures being implemented, including the operation of over 360 trains from Prayagraj, with a train arriving every four minutes at various stations.  He also mentioned that personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) have been deployed at all stations for crowd management, and passengers are being allowed entry based on a color-coded system. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday after a fire broke out at the Mahakumbh Mela in Sector 19. Officials confirmed that the fire caused by an LPG cylinder explosion engulfed 18 pavilions but caused no damage. Kumbh Mela Chief Fire Officer Pramod Sharma said 15 fire brigades were deployed to douse the flames, adding that “the fire has been doused, and the situation is under control.” Akhara Police Station In-charge Bhaskar Mishra said two LPG cylinders exploded in the camps and caused the fire. Officials soon arrived at the scene to oversee the relief and rescue operations. The official Mahakumbh 2025 X handle expressed sadness over the incident, saying, “Very sad!
