Wrestler Lalit blanked in final, misses final but coach sees silver lining

3 min readUpdated: Apr 7, 2026 11:07 PM IST Maybe, it was the big-match nerves that got the better of Indian Greco-Roman wrestler Lalit in the final of the 55 kg at the Asian Championships in Kyrgyzstan. But for coach Kuldeep Singh, the loss came with a silver lining. On Tuesday, Lalit, 23, lost 0-9 to the two-time Asian Championships medallist Ikhtiyor Botirov to settle for silver, his first-ever senior championships medal. Despite the disheartening technical superiority loss, this was a memorable outing for the Panipat wrestler, who had taken down the 2025 World Championships medallist and World No.4 Huoying Shi of China in the semi-finals. Coach Kuldeep was pleased that his ward achieved the goal of making it to the podium. “The Uzbek wrestler (Botirov) is an experienced one. I think in such high-voltage finals the experience comes into play,” he told The Indian Express. “Lalit is a technical wrestler but he needs to work on power. Now, we know that if he needs to win consistently at the Asian level, he needs to …

Putin breaks protocol with rare ‘nonsense!’ Lavrov comment, reporters caught off guard in Kyrgyzstan

Published on Nov 28, 2025 01:06 am IST Russian President Putin, amid speculation of a rift in the Kremlin, surprised reporters in Kyrgyzstan by publicly brushing off a remark from Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov as “nonsense,” breaking his usual tightly controlled protocol and offering a rare glimpse of disagreement inside Russia’s foreign‑policy team. The off‑the‑cuff comment, made during his state visit and joint events around the CSTO summit, appeared to signal that Putin alone will define Russia’s messaging on Ukraine and relations with the West, even when it means undercutting his veteran diplomat on camera. The moment has fueled speculation about tensions within Moscow’s elite and about how closely Lavrov’s public lines now track the Kremlin leader’s own thinking.   News / Videos / Putin breaks protocol with rare ‘nonsense!’ Lavrov comment, reporters caught off guard in Kyrgyzstan Disclaimer: We do not own any of the content, ideas, images, or text presented here. Kyrgyzstan edges past India in a 7-goal thriller

India dished out a vastly improved display before being edged out by the Kyrgyz Republic 3-4 in their concluding Group B tie of the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup 2025 Qualifiers, on Sunday at Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Trailing 1-3 at halftime after taking the lead in the third minute through Drishti Pant, the Indian girls wreaked havoc in the rival defence in the final five minutes to make it 3-3, thanks to two dazzling strikes by deceptive attacker Khushbu Saroj (34’, 40’). Yet, the pleasure of taking at least a point home remained unfulfilled as the goal by Nazik Kumyshbek Kyzy, with less than 25 seconds remaining, saw the Kyrgyz Republic have the last laugh. The winners scored the other goals through Aizhan Boronbekova (10’), Nursuluu Murzakulova (12’), and Rebecca Zamthianmawi (OG, 18’). It was Kyrgyz Republic’s first victory in the group after losing against hosts Indonesia and Hong Kong. While the disappointment of defeat, the third consecutive in their maiden campaign, writ large on their faces, the three goals they scored against more experienced opponents …
