NASA unveils Artemis III astronauts to test technology for future moon landing | World News

2 min readJun 9, 2026 11:15 PM IST NASA on Tuesday revealed the crew for its Artemis III mission, the next step in the space agency’s plan to eventually land astronauts on the moon. The announcement came two months after Artemis II’s record-breaking trip around the moon that surpassed the distance record of Apollo 13. NASA’s Randy Bresnik, Frank Rubio, Andre Douglas and the European Space Agency’s Luca Parmitano won’t fly to the moon or land on the surface. Instead, they’ll orbit Earth while practicing docking their Orion capsule with two lunar landers. “To the Artemis III crew, we wish you Godspeed on the journey ahead,” said NASA administrator Jared Isaacman. Elon Musk’s SpaceX and Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin are racing to deliver the lunar landers. The two-week demo is targeted for 2027. Blue Origin suffered a recent setback when its massive rocket exploded during an engine-firing test on the launch pad in Florida, shaking nearby homes and illuminating the sky with an orange fireball. NASA’s Jeremy Parsons said the setback is a learning opportunity …

For Isharani Baruah, repeatedly leaving shuttles landing inside baseline, is concerning’ – Coach Vimal Kumar

Written by: Express News Service 4 min readApr 28, 2026 04:01 PM IST Had it been a routine pasting at the hands of a former Olympic champion, Isharani Baruah could’ve been dismissed as just another youngster, a work in progress. But it was in the manner of her loss to Chen Yufei, 22-20, 21-13, that has disappointed her coach at Bangalore, Vimal Kumar. Vimal, who made an inspired decision to field the Gopichand-coached teen then, Saina Nehwal in a team event, where she stepped up to deliver a win, reckons it’s these clutch moments that the young brigade need to make the most of. Isharani could not convert her 20-19 advantage in the first set, despite playing well. And there’s very little to salvage from such misses, Vimal said. “Isharani had Chen Yufei on the ropes at the Uber Cup—and let her off. At 20–19, a missed sitter. At this level, that’s the match,” he said. There are specific areas where the pattern of misses has become apparent to him. “The concern is deeper. Repeatedly …

The passport will be retained by the Immigration Authorities and returned at the time of departure. According to the Centre’s counsel, TLP is issued in “rarest of the rare cases”. Sylvia, along with her sister, fashion entrepreneur Pernia Qureshi, both US citizens, were granted Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) status, equivalent to an Overseas Indian Citizen (OCI) card as is issued now. The government had sought to cancel both their PIO cards. In 2019, the Delhi HC stayed the cancellation of Pernia’s PIO card. Sylvia and Pernia’s father, Moin Akhtar Qureshi, …

Aviation ministry cuts landing and parking charges for domestic airlines

The Ministry of Civil Aviation on Thursday announced a 25 per cent reduction in landing and parking charges for domestic airlines for a period of three months, as part of efforts to ease operational costs amid global disruptions in aviation, officials said. The decision comes in the wake of rising crude prices triggered by the West Asia conflict, which has affected global air operations. Earlier, the government had capped the hike in aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices for domestic carriers at 25 per cent, even as international fuel costs surged sharply. Speaking about the new measures, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the primary focus of the government in the aviation sector has been to make flying a more affordable and convenient travel option for passengers. Even in the prevailing challenging situation, when global air operations are impacted, we have ensured that cancellations and rising fuel costs do not severely affect the operations of our domestic carriers. While ATF costs globally have risen by more …
