A Bihar Court on Saturday granted interim relief to educator Faisal Khan, popularly known as “Khan Sir’’, during the hearing of his anticipatory bail plea. The court upheld a “no-coercive action” order, directing the police not to take any harsh action against him until the next hearing in connection with the coaching institute firing case.  Earlier, the Patna Police had registered an FIR against Faisal Khan and two others in connection with the June 2 firing and vandalism incident outside his coaching institute. A 44-year-old local BJP functionary was allegedly beaten to death and three members of his family were critically injured in a clash in Bairagiwala village here, police said on Sunday. According to the police, the victim, Vinod, got into an altercation over watering an adjacent field belonging to Imtiaz of the same village. After the row, a group of more than 40 people, armed with lathis, wooden planks, and hammers, stormed Vinod’s house. Vinod died on the spot after being struck on the head. Punjab: Six granthis arrested for abetting peer’s suicide

Police have arrested six ‘granthis’ (Sikh priests) for allegedly abetting the suicide of a peer with threats and mental harassment, officials said on Sunday.  The deceased has been identified as Jaspal Singh, 28. As per the complaint, on June 9 morning, a priest, along with the other accused granthis and some unidentified persons, visited Jaspal and demanded a share in religious programmes.  When Jaspal allegedly refused, the accused threatened and harassed him, police said. Jaspal, distressed over the alleged harassment, consumed a poisonous substance on the evening of June 12 and died, police said.
