Ajay Devgn’s comedy franchise runs out of laughs
The Dhamaal franchise has always thrived on absurdity. Logic was never its strongest suit, but the earlier films compensated with infectious energy, memorable comic timing and a cast that knew exactly how to embrace the madness. Dhamaal 4, however, mistakes louder for funnier and bigger for better, resulting in a sequel that struggles to recreate the charm that once made the series a family favourite. Directed by Indra Kumar, the film reunites Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi and Jaaved Jaaferi for yet another treasure hunt packed with wild chases, exaggerated action and CGI creatures. The premise is familiar enough to keep longtime fans interested initially, but the screenplay quickly descends into a repetitive cycle of slapstick, shouting and visual excess. Critics have pointed out that the film relies too heavily on dated humour and weak gags, leaving little room for genuine laughs.
