Senthil Kumar as the Secretary-I to the Chief Minister. He was hitherto the Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department. The State government also posted IAS officer G. Laxmi Priya as the Secretary-II to the CM. Ms. Priya was until recently the Secretary of the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department. The State Government is strongly in favour of all government programmes reaching deserving beneficiaries. The Department of Women and Child Welfare has, therefore, decided to weed out the undeserving beneficiaries and the accounts of dead persons. To ensure this, we will be using a software tool. It will trace out the beneficiaries who have died. Payment to those accounts will be stopped,’’ stated Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar. Anganwadi workers will visit the homes of beneficiaries whose accounts have been flagged by the software, to make sure that the scheme is not misused. The car hit a roadside tree, after the driver tried to avoid hitting a dog that was running astray, police said. A case is being registered.
