Fourteen critically ill patients, including 10 on ventilator support, were moved out of the ICU at the government-run Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital here after water leakage from a pipeline left the ward flooded, a hospital official said on Tuesday. According to hospital staff, nearly six inches of water accumulated in the ICU on Monday night. SMS Hospital Trauma Centre in-charge Dr BL Yadav said the area where the ICU stands earlier housed rooms and toilets, and old water pipelines were buried during the construction. Rajya Sabha MP and BJP leader Ram Mokariya has raised the issue of “inferior” quality of food grains being distributed to the beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKY) before Rajkot District Collector Prabhav Joshi. He has sought a probe into “detecting the leakage” that led to alleged adulteration in the grains. He placed samples of rice, dal, wheat and gram sourced from beneficiaries before the Collector at the meeting of the civil supplies co-ordination committee held in Rajkot on Saturday.
