AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi mocked Pakistan’s leadership after the Indian Air Force destroyed the Rahim Yar Khan airbase on 10 May, part of a wider strike on eight PAF bases in response to missile attacks from Pakistan. New Delhi: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday came down hard on Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the country’s army chief General Asim Munir following the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) strike on the Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) Rahim Yar Khan airbase, one of eight airbases hit during the operation carried out early on 10 May. “Will S Sharief & A Munir (sic) be able to land their leased Chinese aircraft at Rahim Yar Khan Airbase?” Owaisi posted on X. Rahim Yar Khan serves as a forward operating base for the PAF’s Central Command. It shares its only runway with the Sheikh Zayed International Airport, named after Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the first President of the UAE, who funded the airport terminal’s construction. The temple should ideally be generating a revenue of over ₹200 crore per annum but its annual income was only around ₹8 crore, says the petitioner | Photo Credit: FILE PHOTO A public interest litigation (PIL) petition has been filed in the Madras High Court claiming that 10 grounds of Mylapore Kapaleeswarar Temple land at Greenways Road in Chennai had been leased out to Women’s India Association (WIA) for a monthly rent of ₹3,000 since 1984. First Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice D. Krishnakumar and Justice P.B. Balaji on Thursday directed N.R.R. Arun Natarajan, Special Government Pleader (Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department) to take notice and file a counter affidavit to the PIL petition filed by temple activist T.R. Ramesh. According to the petitioner, the Karpagambiga Sameta Sri Kapaleeswarar Swamy Temple had a recorded a history of over 1,500 years. He said, the temple was originally located near the seashore at Santhome but got vandalised by the Portugese invaders in 1516.
